And question to Paul, which set-up are you using on Knyfe?

For this, it has to be...

5: A 15mm Hardox wedge angled at 42* with an extension, perfect for deflecting vertical spinners and getting under other robots.

Im going to ram Fairground Killride and TVW into oblivian, and I may suggest that Kody with his 106kj goes for Woody. According to basic vapourboteering, a big disc + Wooden robot =

              Some questions

              Questions about the 6isc
Is the disc mounted onto the main axle?
How is the disc driven (chain/belt/direct gearing?)
Are the wheels protected from a lucky front on attack?
In the picture, there looks like a gap in between the 2 semi-circular wheel protectors, is this true oris the gap filled?
              How are the wheels driven?
What voltage do you run the disc motor at?

              Systematical Shockerlarity
Can the drum run in reverse if you end up on your back?
How is the drum driven (chain/belt etc?)

              Fling:
Wouldnt a shape at the rear be better than a ?

              Tire 4?
              How are the wheels driven?
Are the teeth a part of the flywheel (like 6isc)?
How is the disc driven with both motors?

Can you squeeze in another battle please?

Because Ive just realised a grudge I think I wish to have, and get my own back for Nitro-Genes first defeat.

Is the disc mounted onto the main axle?

Are we talking about the hardox bar part here? If so, not directly, its mounted onto the outer axle, which is mostly mounted onto the inner wheel hubs and theyre mounted to the main axle

How is the disc driven (chain/belt/direct gearing?)

                      Direct gearing

Are the wheels protected from a lucky front on attack?

That would be impossible while maintaining proper invertability, so no.

In the picture, there looks like a gap in between the 2 semi-circular wheel protectors, is this true oris the gap filled?

                      The gap isnt filled.

                      How are the wheels driven?

                      Dirtect gearing.

What voltage do you run the disc motor at?

Thought Id put this in the stats, sorry. 36 V

May Tracks will gladly take on Nitrogene again.

Super - I think its about time I got vengence - time is kick some bot!

Nitro-Gene 4.0 vs. The May Tracks Has You: The thing about May Tracks is it has only 6hp in its drive, as it has 2 LEM130s at 24V = 3hp each. I have 4 LEM130s at 36V = 9hp each, making 36hp overall. But hes tracked and Ive got Vulkanised Wheels, and although Im not sure about the track treads, I know he has greater traction than me, so a frontal attack wont work, has he may get under, but if I get desperate, attack the front, and hope Im fast enough for ram him and get under, or drive fast enough so he cant spike my tyres.

My main side of attack is the rear, as I should be fast enough to get around the back, and if I ram him in a straight line into the wall, it should be enough for me to get right under and just FLIP!
The sides are an option, but the front, unless desperate, isnt an option.
If he gets under, flip before he gets a chance to reverse, as that will produce a massive amount of air-time for me to just fly of the wedge, and escape the spikes. Chances of me escaping the spikes are slim, but they may just work!

                        Good luck Frank

Problem from a driving standpoint is you cant attack the rear of a machine without telegraphing your intent. Its a lot easier to avoid a rear attack than it is to perform one.

Youre still a bit motor-stat obsessed Paul. HP only really matters for rammers. I dont intend to be under Nitro-Gene long enough to do some serious pushing, and even if I did want to push you around your HP would be irrelevent because your wheels would not be on the ground.

Anyway, tactics are to try and punch under Nitros skirts at the corners and do some flippage. Biohazards been gotten under before, so Nitro-Gene can be too.

Have fun giving yourself air time and shock damage by the way Paul:wink:

                          Best of luck

                            About Tira IV...

                            How are the wheels driven?

                            Direct gearing.

Are the teeth a part of the flywheel (like 6isc)?

Actually, yes. The teeth are just painted differently.

How is the disc driven with both motors?

                            Direct gearing.

                                Systematical Shockerlarity vs. Achilles

And so the grudge matches kick off, not with Slammer vs. the 6isc, but with Systematical Shockerlarity against Achilles.

The first robot to walk into the arena is Systematical Shockerlarity, coming fitted with shuffler feet, powered by some B42€™s, the weapon on Systematical Shockerlarity is a front mounted spinning drum, taking up nearly all the width of the front and powered by a Lem. It can run in reverse and I have been reliability informed that the drum likes to eat water-melons for breakfast. The drum is mounted above a front wedge, to feed robots into the drum, and the sides are protected with some skirts. The rear is exposed, but a top speed of 20 mph; it will take luck to expose that exposed rear end.

The 2nd robot to be wheeled into the arena is Achilles; Alex€™s machine today is using the pneumatic set-up, giving the front flipper some flips. Achilles is a low lean mean fat-reducing flipping machine whose drive comes from some Eteks motors running at 48 volts, the armour is 5mm titanium, with some rubber on the top, the flipper is Hardox, the 4 wheel drive will give the machine some lovely handling and with a top speed of 18 mph, it€™s not that far behind Systematical Shockerlarity, but the wheels against the shuffler pads should give Achilles the advantage. The skirts are protected by some steel skirts, which should give some protection, and again the rear is exposed.

The 3rd robot into the arena toward is Remy, the Ref for the match, sporting several cameras to get close up pictures, and a claw to break apart robots if they get stuck together. After 5 minutes if there is no clear winner, the judge will be called in to determine the winner, but seeing as these are standalone grudge matches, the judge might call the match a draw. Stacking against the arena wall can be used as a possible means to technically knock out (TKO) a robot, so can a flip out of the arena to hit one of the many targets possible, or maybe the pit which is always open, or maybe for the knock-out just beat the other robot into submission so that it doesn€™t work anymore.

So the basic rules have been explained, all fighting must be done in the arena etc.

Liam is in the first control booth, Alex is in the second control booth, as the lights go down as the audience is played a short video clip of the previous battles between these two robots, plus some rather interesting interviews, as the lights go up, the crowd are silent, ready for some action between a drum and a flipper.

                                3
                                2
                                1
                                Activate

Straight away Systematical Shockerlarity is away, following the green light from Remy. Achilles is also away, looking for some quick flips to pile up the points, as Systematical Shockerlarity dodges the front end of Achilles, as Alex also dodges the front end of Systematical Shockerlarity, as both robots return to square one, before spinning around ready to attack once more, as both robots are heading towards each other, the shuffling pads of Systematical Shockerlarity ripping up the soft arena floor as it moves away, Achilles is ready and manages to dodge out of the way of Systematical Shockerlarity€™s frontal drumage and tries to launch an attack onto the sides, trying to breach those 5mm titanium skirts.

Systematical Shockerlarity turns around to prevent Achilles from getting underground and gets first blood, with a blow from the drum onto the frontal area of Achilles, placing a couple rather nasty looking scars into the Hardox, as Systematical Shockerlarity pushes forward forcing Alex into a retreat, spinning around and getting away from Systematical Shockerlarity, by dodging and diving, using the advantages of wheels against the shuffler pads. Achilles spins around and launches into another attack onto Systematical Shockerlarity, and manages to trick Liam into diving the wrong way and hits the side skirts.

The skirts hold out as the front spatula goes up the side skirts, giving Systematical Shockerlarity time to spin around and launch into a side-on attack, the drum ripping away the side skirts of Achilles, and manages to lift the side of Achilles up with the air, as the flipper fires to send Achilles away from Systematical Shockerlarity, as Liam isn€™t holding up, having tasted damage, he wants more, as Alex gives counter-attack, as both robots meet head-on, slamming together, the two wedges meet, as Achilles goes up the front wedge, and straight into the drum. The added weight over the front end of Systematical Shockerlarity makes getting underneath it hard, as Achilles is thrown away by the power of the drum, as Alex tries to self-right out of the way of Systematical Shockerlarity, Systematical Shockerlarity slams into Achilles side-on again, sending Achilles into a spin as the remaining skirt flies off. Achilles lands onto its wheels and is away, away from Systematical Shockerlarity.

Liam makes another attack, but Achilles manages to counter-dodge the attack, as Alex launches into a quick successive attack onto Systematical Shockerlarity, as Liam dodges, but Alex has another plan and another successive attack catches Systematical Shockerlarity off guard as the front end of Achilles manages to breach the side skirts coming from an angle, as the flipper fires, sending Systematical Shockerlarity over. Achilles quickly comes back onto the attack, before the drum can be reverse as Liam drives around looking for something to ram into with the drum to stop it spinning so that he can spin it up again, as the energy levels in the drum means he can€™t simply spin the motor the other way around without risk of damage to the drum drive system. Achilles launches into an attack, as Systematical Shockerlarity spins around to dodge the attack, the drum now spinning the correct direction, but the sides of Systematical Shockerlarity are now exposed, as the skirts hang limp, hanging by the side of Systematical Shockerlarity, as Alex spins around and comes back onto the attack.

The arena floor is looking a right royal mess, as the shuffler pads dig in to get grip, as Achilles rams into Systematical Shockerlarity head-on, the front wedge getting underneath the drum, with some damage to the front flipper plate, as the rubber is peeled away, but to Alex this doesn€™t matter as the shuffler pads are lifted from the ground as he points controls to the heart of the arena fence and with a few metres to go launches the flipper, sending Systematical Shockerlarity into a spin, smashing the machine disc first into one of the soft-wooden targets which as predicted crumbles without giving any resistance as Systematical Shockerlarity falls down onto the camera tracks.

                                Cease

Systematical Shockerlarity flipped out of the arena, wooden target is destroyed, and Achilles wins this match.
