    ow wow, my concerns at what to do with Axe to Fall 2 were mostly in the armour department, and now its up against Tempest in its last test run, great Frank

      Tempest is in for an overhaul too, looking back on it Im certain it can stand to lose about 20 KGs at least.

      My main problem is now Ive gone to evil-est-oution Im not sure what to do with the name for the next iteration. Any suggestions?

                Right, this is my first attempt at designing in a while, bear with me Im trying to redo my squad somewhat, but for now is a new creation, as yet unnamed and unstyled because I intend on scouring the horse racing listings later and ripping off one of those.

                WEIGHT: 100kgs
                DIMENSIONS: 115 x 70 x 20 cms (not counting the wheels but including the spike)
                SHAPE: Invertible brick with wheels protected from the side
                DRIVE: 2 Husqvarna 3120XP petrol chainsaw engines, one for each side of the drive, modified somewhat to lose excess weight with expansion tubes fitted to increase their power, to a peak of about 10hp each at high speeds, which translates roughly into lots and lots of torque when geared down suitably. These engines drive through belts six 440mm diameter go-kart wheels with puncture proof foam rubber tyres that provide very good traction and a degree of suspension, coated with silicone rubber for ultimate grippyness.
                BATTERIES: 1 4ah NiMh pack that powers the reciever and control electronics/servos for the engine throttle and failsafes
                SPEED: 15-20mph average, 25mph max
                GROUND CLEARANCE: 70mm all around, even when inverted
                ARMOUR: Most of the body (front. rear, sides and base) is an 8-14mm titanium monocoque construction with Weldox and polypropylene reinforcing at certain weak areas, with the top cover being made of 5mm carbon fibre/polypropylene honeycomb material over a 6mm polycarbonate sheet.
                WEAPONS: A single front 15cm hardened S7 tool steel spike, reinforced and shock mounted from within the chassis and sharpened to a dangerous point at the end, used for impaling other robots armour and pushing them around with. The spike is adjustable so it can point downwards if the opponent is lower than 17cm.
                NOTES: Components are heavily shockproofed to withstand the force of its own and others attacks. Innards are protected by aluminium foil to reduce the fire risk
                STRENGTHS: Lots of power, high ground clearance means it will not be affected by driving on wedges, and combined with the wheels means it can probably drive over the top of robots even if there are spikes there to stop that
                WEAKNESSES: Petrol driven, no active weapons

                  7cm ground clearance?

                  BTW, 200mm body+70 clearance at bottom+70 clearance at top = 340mm. Wheel diameter - 440mm :wink:

                  Using a chain-saw engine for drive, havent that in a while, you need quite a bit of gearing

                    Uh...Ill change that, elementary mathematics fail :P

                    The point of the high ground clearance is to combat wedges, as it can just go straight over the top and retain traction with something because youd find it hard to get the wheels off the floor.

                      O.k here we go...

                      The arena is the robot wars extream 2 arena

                      First, Tempest evil-est-oution!

                      Frank Goachers machine is definitely one to be scared of! the armor alone weighs 63kgs and the 4 hardox teeth will slice through just about anything

                      Next in the arena is Axe-to-fall!

                      Martijns robot has a very powerful double ended axe and some very grippy wheels,witch gives it great pushing power.

                      The 2 house robots are...Sir Killalot and growler. 2 awesome house bots for 2 awesome robots.

                      3...2...1...ACTIVATE!

                      and theyre off! Axe-to-fall trying to rush tempest before it spins up to speed, but tempest is faster and axe-to-fall now has a large gash down its left side.a grin is forming on franks face as martijn panics and another great gash appears on axe-to-falls front.

                      Axe-to-fall pushes the pit release button,almost catching tempest out and there is a time where frank thinks its all over.he turns it with all his might and tempest just misses the pit. Tempest wants revenge and charges at axe-to-fall who moves out the way...

                      SMASH!!!

                      Tempest hits the wall of the arena and ricochets away...has that done any damage? NO IT HAS NOT! Axe-to-falls party is stopped dead as tempest finaly gets its revenge and slams into axe-to-falls left side

                      CRASH...TINKLE...GROAN

                      WOW!!! Axe-to-falls side has been RIPPED OFF! Frank Grins as he sees his opponents robot begin to die...

                      Axe-to-fall trys one last time to attack tempest and finally gets the axe in... a small dent appears in tempest but nothing is getting through that 1cm armor. Tempest charges at Axe-to-fall and gets its blade into the armor-less side...

                      RIP!!!

                      OUCH, no-one could survive that! martjn winces as the insides of axe-to-fall are scattered across the arena

                      the refbot comes in

                      1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10!

                      Its all over for axe-to-all, sir killalot raises its prize and does the mythical victory dance of death

                      Axe-to-fall is dumped in the pit and a great cloud of smoke comes up to cover the battered remains!

                      CEASE!!!

                      tempest is the winner!

                          Weapon 2: At the front there is a Terrorhurtz-Like Rack-and-Pinion Axe powered by 2 X 2kg CO2 Tanks, 200 PSI, diamond tipped, has over 1500 joules of force when it comes down. It can also attack from both ends.
                          Srimech: The axe can easily self-right it (even when its on its side), and it can also self-right even after the axe has fired, ala Killerhurtz.
                          Strengths: PSYCHOTIC AXE AND PUSHING POWER
                          Weaknesses: NONE AT ALL!

                                Anyone remember my HW War Drum that never fought? Well, its been reincarnated into the otherweights:

                                War Drum LW
                                Shape: Reverse wedge, the rear wedge is angled at 30* and the sides are sloped inwards at 42*
                                Weight: 28kg
                                Length: 25cm
                                Width: 40cm
                                Height: 15cm
                                Motivation: 2 vulcanised wheels, internal, but exposed from the top and bottom
                                Drive: 2 x S28-150s at 24v, 6HP
                                Batteries: 2 x NiCad battlepacks
                                Armour: 12mm HDPE, 15mm in key areas
                                Weaponry:
                                1) The front drum spins vertically at 2500rpm via an S28-400 magmotor at 24v, driven by a NiCad battlepack. The drum weighs 7kg and is made of 7075 aluminium, it has several cheese grater style titanium teeth placed in a diagonal fashion going around to the drum. It is chain driven and can be reversed if the robot is inverted. When at top speed it can deliver a 26Kj hit. It is 30cm in width, 15cm in diameter
                                2) Either side of the drum there are two static tungsten tipped spikes, making four in total. These are each 13cm long
                                3) If for some reason the drum fails the robot can use its wedge to shove opponents around the arena
                                Speed: 12mph
                                Turning Circle: 0cm
                                Ground Clearance: 7mm at front and sides, 0mm at rear due to wedge
                                Srimech: Invertible, cannot be stranded because of the angled of the sides
                                Colour: Red drum with gold teeth, green bodywork with purple marking out the frame

                                War Drum MW
                                Shape: Full Body Drum, ala Barberous 2
                                Weight: 54kg
                                Length: 35cm
                                Width: 50cm
                                Height: 15cm
                                Motivation: 2 x 4mm hardox wheels with unrethane tyres
                                Drive: 2 x S28-400s at 24v, 9HP
                                Batteries: 2 x NiCad battlepacks
                                Armour: 3mm titanium/vanadium alloy
                                Weaponry:
                                1) The drum spins upwards at 3000rpm via a Briggs and Stratton E-Tek at 48v, it has seeveral cheese grater style teeth placed in a diagonal fashion around the drum. It weighs 14kg and when spinning at top speed it can deliver a 34Kj hit
                                Speed: 17mph
                                Turning Circle: 0
                                Ground Clearance: 7mm
                                Srimech: Flipping it has no effect whatsoever
                                Colour: Red with gold teeth, the wheels are green with a purple stripe
