  • How could I Improve pt 2

That only looks to have three wheels a side.

Is there a shape youd recommend? I only say this because I dont really wish to have another Tornado/Storm 2 equse rambot on my team when I already have Cyclone Force.

I meant three wheels a side, never post while still under the effects of spicy pizza :P

As for shapes...well, me being me Id suggest a nice tetrahedron or plough shaped wedge but you could go for something like Vader or Inshredable for a vertical spinner.

For the first point, if its designed to be invertible, I dont see how the shape would prevent all four wheels from touching the ground. I mean, in all honesty...what shape would you have it?On its back, Chris. :P All four wheels wouldnt touch the ground if its put on its back. :P

            Revamped slightly...

            MEGA MASHER 2

            Weight: 100 kilos
Body Shape: A Triangle shape, a bit like Inshredable (from Series 6). 1.5m in length, 1m in length and 0.5m at its highest point. There are minature ploughs at the rear where the blade is, to guide robots into it.
            Speed: 15mph
            TC: 0
GC; 0 at front and back, 6mm at sides
Wheels; 6 inner, aranged in a 3-wheel-a-side formation. This means that four wheels are always on the ground at any one time.
            Armour: A nice 3.25mm Hardox
            Power: 3x 12v batteries, plus Bosch 750s at 36v.
            Colour: Red and yellow.
Weapons; The front is a wedge, and the back has a nasty vertical disc, powered by its own LEM130 motor and spinning at 2000 rpm. It can probably flip as well as damage.
Srimech: The robot can run inverted, with the sheer angling at the sides making stranding near impossible.
Inspiration; This is probably the only robot I have where I have had no inspiration. It just came as a good name.
            Strengths: Power, weaponary
            Weaknessess: A little bulky.

Whatever. Chris updated it so its moot now. :P

EDIT: God, I must be blind...I see dimensions. I dont see my common sense though. :P

Right, now to work on those stats of yours :P

Firstly, 3.25mm hardox on an area at least 4 metres squared for armour is probably pushing the weight limit ever so slightly on its own

Secondly, it does sort of help to know the weight and kinetic energy of the disc so writers can have a better idea about it...and before you say anything, there are websites to help you out. There is one such calculator for kinetic energy in the introduction topic.

                  First Point: Recommendations?

Second Point: I dont have the slightest clue about this weight/kinetic energy of the disc thing...even when I checked the link. Why? Because the calculator makes no sense whatsoever. It almost feels like its in Japanese, and thus its not helping me out at all...meaning there are NO websites to help me out.

Its in English, just the measures are imperial ones. Google is your friend when it comes to conversions; just type in x cm in inches or x kilograms in pounds.

As for armour, youd be hard pressed to get any decent coverings on unless you make it smaller.

                        1 in = 2.54 cm

Easy enough to base upon that :P

You guys simply dont get it, do you? Its not the conversions, its the sheer complexity. It makes zero sense whatsoever, and you saying 1 inch = 2.54 centimetres is actually being somewhat unkind when the help I need is SO much more extreme.

                          As for the dimensions...

*gasp* SO much more extreme? And how could that possibly be?

First off, which calculator are you using...if its the Team Cosmos kJ calc, I have no idea what the problem is. Its like the simplest kJ calc out there...

If its not, then please EXPLAIN the problems. Very slowly, and very politely. I only spoke up about that conversion because I believe youre whining over nothing. Please show me that is not the case. :P

                              Robot Name: Return of Rex
Shape: From above it looks like a triangle with the point replaced by a flat side. That top side is the front
                              Weight: 100kg
                              Length: 85cm
Width: 85cm at rear right down to about 7cm at the front
                              Height: 14cm
Motivation: 2 x internal swivel casters at the rear, 2 x unrethane rubber tyres on HDPE wheels mounted internally towards the front of the robot
                              Drive: 2 x S28-400 magmotors @ 36v
                              Batteries: 4 x NiCad battlepacks @ 36v
Armour: 7mm grade 2 titanium for the most part with 4mm hardox in key areas. The base is 12mm Lexan and Lexiguard compound with 2mm grade 5 titanium added protection in key areas
Weaponry: Hinged at the very back of the robot is a Toro-style flipping arm drilled with large holes at the front to reduce weight. It is made of 6mm hardox and powered by a single 100m non-attached ram at 1000psi from a 2.5kg nitrogen bottle, which should suffice for about 15-20 flips per bout
                              Speed: 15mph
                              Turning Circle: 0
Ground Clearance: 0 at front, 7mm at sides and rear
Srimech: The flipping arm can turn it 540 degrees in the air, plus the sides and rear are wedged at 42* to stop it getting beached
Colour: Super shiny, like Trident with mischievious cartoony eyes on either side of the flipper plate

Yes, Kody, I am using the Team Cosmos Kinetic Energy Calculator...and it simply makes no sense.

For a start, its asking me for the blades diameter, thickness and distance (which doesnt make sense anyway), none of which I even know. No one told me about this when I started vapourboteering...all I know is that it has a vertical flywheel, ala Minion (although I suppose itd be smaller, considering the weight difference). I dont even know what its made of, because no one ever SAYS what their flywheels are made of.

And if that wasnt bad enough, its telling me to add MOI. That doesnt make the remotest bit of sense. It doesnt even try to say what it means.

Im sorry, but if this really was the Simplest kJ calc out there, then it wouldnt be so hi-tech. It really is NOT the simplest, because I simply dont understand.
