Are you going to start writing this and/or the challenge belt tommorrow Paul? From the deadlines you gave Daniel to get the new robot in it would seem so... If it is, I await my first proper battle written by an experienced writer with great enthusisasm!

              TACTICS:

I have a grudge with No Objections since he beat me in the Liam Eliot Challenge Belt. Shove him around, and hope somebody will destroy his HDPE. I will not get anywhere near the pit. Begin to use the axe and hit No Objections with everything Ive got. Possibly with help from Brutalis, flip the remains of No Objections out of the arena.

Right - some posting problems meant I had to delay the posting of this by about 5 hours, but heres the first round of my first side-event since...EVER!

                    ROUND ONE
No Objections vs. Leprosy Infection vs. Requiem vs. Cyrilium Mach 2 vs. Brutalis 2.0 vs. Spiny

                    +1>From Pontefract, No Objections!!

It€™s a fantastic robot, you can€™t object to that! A low dome type shape that€™s 1.4m in diameter and 15cm high from the top panel to the base panel, in which this robot has 2 x S28-400 Magmotors driving 2 wheels, with a fairly narrow wheelbase to increase rotation speed, as driving speed is 12mph and rotating speed is a whooping 40mph! Outside the robot is a thick 12mm Hardox ring (that doubles up as armour) with 2 blades/teeth, one on each side, made of hardened tool steel set close to the floor (1-2mm) and capable of delivering about 80kj of energy when hitting. In addition, it has 2mm titanium/vanadium alloy on top of 5mm UHMW polythene on the top of the robot, supported by a 4mm Hardox frame underneath with holes drilled to reduce weight. The top is home to a powerful lifter that can lift up 250kg and go from closed to open in 1.5 seconds! This is a tough nut to even annoy, but its spinning abilities only work if it spins on the spots, so opponents may take advantage!

                    +1>From Onehouse, Suffolk, Leprosy Infection!!

Here€™s the robot that made you understand how lepers feel, its Leprosy Infection to make the robots SUFFER! This 4-wheel-drive box robot powered by 2 x S28-400 MagMotors is a very well designed machine, with a 7mm Titanium bodywork and 8mm Titanium self-described €˜mini-skirts€™ to prevent floor-hugging blades from hitting the wheels! Speeds of 18mph make this robot hard work to catch and the LEM130 powered 15kg 4000rpm spinning drum is VERY well designed - the curved teeth are designed to flip and rip robots when spinning upwards, but if flipped and the drum spins downwards, it€™ll rip the opposing machine to shreds! By the drum are two hinged wedge type devices, which drive opponents onto the drum to make them feel MORE hurts, but an axe could end the reign of infection so easily!

                    +1>From Wales, Requiem!!

No-one knows what this word means, but all we know is it€™s the best for the nastiest robot! Invertible box with a triangular section cut out of the front, which houses the 20kg spinning drum, powered by 2 Huqsvarna 3120XP chainsaw motors. The 5mm Titanium and Vanadium alloy armour is quite tough to break. The weapon is capable of changing gears during a match. Originally, the drum spins at 2400RPM when geared down 10:1, but this can be increased to 2:1 at systematic intervals of 2 gearings (10:1, 8:1, 6:1, 4:1 2:1). The 4mm Titanium drum is fitted with 2 horizontal Hardox bars, welded, screwed and riveted on to avoid them coming off. These are designed not only to flip, but to rip off skirts and armouring. The drum can hit with over 20kj of energy as it spins at 4800rpm. The rear of the robot is rounded and each side has a thick Hardox spike, stopping it from resting on its side. The drive motors are 24V Sinclair C5 motors, producing 18mph, and making a machine to be reckoned with!

+1>From Texas, USA, Cyrilium Mach 2!!
                    -1>Entered by Mark Elam
Named after a fictional element created by Mark, he plans to make Cyrilium€™s power absolute fact! Shaped like a box-wedge shaped design, powered by 4 x S28-400 MagMotors to motivate 4 Rubber treaded wheels with Aluminium Boron Carbide hubs. For weapons it has a powerful diamond-tipped axe with the ability to pierce thin Hardox armour, as well as a lifting arm for lifting and self-righting reasons. 4mm Hardox, with 1mm Titanium bolted underneath provide armoury for this design, with 17mph being the speed. Despite all this though, the lifter may not be strong enough to overturn an opponent, and it may be flipped due to the 4mm clearance on the sides and rear.

                    +1>From Cardiff, Wales, Brutalis 2.0!!
                    -1>Entered by Liam Elliot
The brute is here! A robot whose shape is a box-wedge with 2 spikes extending out to get under another robot more easily than a normal box-wedge, so it can bring a fantastic flipper, made from 4mm Harodx and powered by a single 100mm ram at 750psi, allowing for 500kg of lift at the tip of the flipper! More than enough to through a robot upwards into the sky! The 2 rubber Go-Kart tyres are powered by 2 x S28-400 magmotors running at 24V to move the 4mm Hardox armoured robot with Titanium skirts to a speed of 15mph! The skirts may be too flimsy to put off flippers, but it could be a dark horse€¦

                    +1>From Hampshire, Spiny!!
                    -1>Entered by Dave Sheppard
A fairly simple name for a very complex robot! A reversed cut-off wedge shape with the front storing a 10kg vertical spinning disc powered by a petrol motor, so it has the ability to spin up to speeds of 12000rpm, and it can get to that speed in 1.43 seconds! If wished, the disc can be removed and a Hardox ramming spike can be added so it can use its great speed. The robot has 2 Vulkalon wheels powered by a C40-500 MagMotor. The main chassis is 20mm steel bars, with triangles to hold the forces from the engine, the disc, and driving. Pieces of rubber at points prevent the robot shaking and breaking. The main armour other the main important items (batteries, power link, motors etc) is 5mm titanium plating, with a layer of Dyneema UD-HB on top. Other the Dyneema UD-HB is a piece of axe proof polycarbonate. The rest of the robot has 4mm RSP-707 TG. The main robot is compact itself. The front scoop is 3.25mm Hardox, the rear has a block of rubber fitted. Skirts can be added to the sides to reduce the ground clearance on the sides and rear from 1cm to 1mm. A powerful weapon, but the rear is vulnerable, and that can get Spiny into major trouble!

                    Booth #1: Liam E, Joey M
                    Booth #2: Chris M, Mark E
                    Booth #3: Dave S, Daniel S

                    Roboteers, stand by!!!

                    3€¦2€¦1€¦activate!!!

Liam and Joey look to one another in conformation€¦and now put the power down - headed straight into Cyrilium! Chris has noticed and heads off in the blazing trail of Joey and Liam in taking out the targeted Cyrilium. Whilst all this is happening, Requirem and Spiny are rotating up their drums and weapons, as a buzzing noise comes from the speedy drum of Requirem as it moves out as well, but in the direction of Spiny! A contact is made between the violent, flashing weapons AND SPINY FLIES OVER! Requiem is thrusting with the deadly drum once more, while Leprosy Infection smacks into the sides of Cyrilium! The Texas Toughnut is flung onto his back, but the lifter comes into play, but Brutalis is underneath now, and we see Liam activate the flipper button, and Cyrilium flies into a 180 flip! The gang of robot is told to back off from Cyrilium now after all the attacking. No Objection is now going into a spin, and Spiny comes into that ring - WHY! The teeth catch the scoop and fling it any, AND THE TEETH LATCH ONTO THE BODY ARMOUR! A panel of RSP-707 TG goes flying off, landing on the flipping spikes, which activate and are given the broken panel some air-time! Brutalis is once again face to face with Cyrilium, WHO BRINGS DOWN THE AXE! Nothing - not even a dent caused there! Leprosy hits into the rear of Cyrilium, and it flops over onto the flipper of Brutalis! Another flip and Cyrilium is once more on its back€¦but where€™s Spiny and Requiem? They€™re both fighting elsewhere, and Spiny now gets a decent blow in! The Ti/V alloy is taking a brusing, and is now starting to loosen off, which is less thsn can be said for Cyrilium has Brutalis pushes it into No Objections€¦BANG! A 4mm Hardox panel has been smacked off! And now the internal workings are exposed, AND IN COME SPINY AND REQUIREM! BANG! BOOM! BASH! The internals of Mark€™s robot are now being torn straight out of the robot, and lying in a heap on the floor. No Objections comes in again, rotates on the spot and Brutalis flips Cyrilium into it once more. More damage caused to the Hardox, BUT SUDDENLY OUT COMES REQUIREM! Leprosy Infection who has remained quiet at this stage receives a blow to the side armour, and a Titanium panel is ripped off as Leprosy flies over! Chris is outraged, and No Objections is ready to storm to his defense, and gets the lifter underneath and lifts Requiem onto its side! Chris now comes in with the drum€¦BAM! Smoke is now being emitted from Requirem, and that battered panel has fallen off! It falls back over, BUT IT CAN€™T MOVE! However, Cyrilium hasn€™t done anything in ages, and Spiny hits in as well. Brutalis now hits underneath again, and pushes Cyrilium towards the edge€¦FLIP! Cyrilium is broken in a heap outside of the arena, and Brutalis, No Objections, Leprosy Infection and Spiny spin in the arena of the arena, but Requiem appears to have problems€¦

                    Result:
Cyrilium Mach 2 must make way for Cyrilium Mach 3!
BRUTALIS 2.0, LEPROSY INFECTION, NO OBJECTIONS, SPINY AND REQUIEM GO THROUGH TO THE NEXT ROUND!!!

                    ROUND TWO
No Objections vs. Leprosy Infection vs. Requiem vs. Brutalis 2.0 vs. Spiny

Is all the damage caused repairable by the next round? Doesnt affect my tactics much, but would be good to know.

                      TACTICS:
Ill primarily spin and run away if for any reason I stop spinning, lifting people out of the way as I go...if I am targeting anyone, its either Requiem or Leprosy Infection, and Ill try and use the lifter to stop the drum on either from spinning and pit it...but of course, Im always open to teamings.

Good luck Dan, Chris, Liam, Dave

Commiserations Mark, I gotta say this version of Cyrilium was much improved from the first one.
My first battle, and a win!

                            Tactics for round 2:
This one will be much tougher, I could be out here. Im not homing in on anyone in particular, but if anyone goes near the walls then go straight in and flip em out. Also at the start of the bout Ill open the pit, so if I get a chance I can shove anyone in, hopefully Requiem or Leprosy.
                            I couldnt post earlier either.

Maybe this explains why Mortis shaped robots are easy to beat.

I wouldnt have said theyre easy to beat Mark, but if your lifter was the same power as Mortis it was underpowered, as Mortis was 80kg, your bot was 100kg
