  • Battlebots: Beyond The Battlebox

OK, so its a lame title. It was the only thing Battlebots related I could think of.

Basically, until further notice, Im putting my RWE tournament on hold. I really would like to do a small tournament, and so...here we go.

Heres how this works...I need FOUR vapourbots from EIGHT people. The thing is that your team needs a Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight AND Superheavyweight in it.

    Basically, normal rules apply.

    LIGHTWEIGHTS: 27 kilos
    MIDDLEWEIGHTS: 54 kilos
    HEAVYWEIGHTS: 100 kilos
    SUPERHEAVYWEIGHTS: 154 kilos

Stompbots and Shufflebots get a weight bonus (x2 and x1.5, respectively), but all other locomotions have to stick by those rules.

Clusterbots are allowed, but try to keep the number sensible. Old school rules as well.

Passive robots are allowed, flying robots are not.

    Get entering.

              Battlebots: Beyond The Battlebox

              1. Against [One half of Split Decision] (LW)
SHAPE- box with hinged wedge at the front
COLOUR- gold with blue strip running down the wedge (top and bottom) and blue thumbs down on the rear
              WEIGHT- approx 20kg
              DIMENSIONS- 50cm X 35cm X 15cm
              SPEED- 14mph
              TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at front (thanks to Firestorm-style titanium strip), 25mm for the rest
              ARMOUR- 4mm Grade 5 titanium
              MOVEMENT- four inner wheels
              POWER- 2 x AstroFlights, running at 24v
WEAPONS- The brute force factor and the many Mute-style spikes on the top and bottom (10mm high each so they allow smooth movement when driving). The idea is to power under the other competitors, skewer them on the hooked prongs and slam them around the ring to my hearts content.
              SRIMECH- invertible
              NOTES- flies the Scotland flag
STRENGTHS- strong pushing power, good armour, fast, good manoueverability, great at slippin under others
WEAKNESSES- the weight issue, lack of proper weaponry
              PICCY HERE- http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/4935/s ... ionhp7.png

              2. Killoteeny (MW)
SHAPE- compact box shape with a front Storm 2-style wedge and a rounded rear
              COLOUR- red
              WEIGHT- about 50kg
              DIMENSIONS- 80cm X 60cm X 25cm
              SPEED- about 16mph
              TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 5mm at sides and back without skirts, 0mm at sides and back with skirts
              ARMOUR- 5mm polycarbonate
              WHEELS- inside robot, 4WD
              POWER- 2 X S28-150s, running at 24v
WEAPONS- The main weapon is the large 180 degree pneumatic axe, very similar to that of Killerhurtz, which operates ala a rack-and-pinion system like Terrorhurtz. Running on 160psi, it really packs more than a punch and can very easily self-right the machine.
Also, if anything should happen to the axe, then the robot can use the low wedge and great pushing power to resort to a Tornado-style tactic - ram to death!
SRIMECH- The axe. Even if it€™s already been fired while flipped, the axe can right itself ala Killerhurtz, aided by a rounded back. Also, the machine has a rounded back and a red semi-sphere on either side of robot to stop it landing on its side.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to Frank for aiding the design
STRENGTHS- Fast, dangerous weapon, good amount of traction, difficult to get under, quick srimech, quite good armour
              WEAKNESSES- so-so turning
              PICCY HERE- profile page

              3. E Clawdius Unum (HW)
SHAPE- skirted wedge with small box section and rounded back
COLOUR- deep green with red shield emblazoned on the wedge, depicting a gold lion with a crown
              WEIGHT- about 100kg
              DIMENSIONS- 95cm X 70cm X 40cm
              SPEED- 14mph
              TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- virtually 0mm at the front, 0mm at sides and rear thanks to skirts (arranged in a Biohazard fashion, corner-to-corner), 10mm without
              ARMOUR- 4mm Hardox
              WHEELS- inside robot, 4-wheel drive
              POWER- 2 X S28-400 MagMotors
WEAPONS- The main weapon, as ever, is the hydraulic diamond-tipped crushing claw. It is powered by a Vivoil pump with an 80mm x 40mm ram, with a 2kg tank for storing the hydraulics. The claw runs at 3000psi and, aided by the diamond tip, should be able to leave plenty of holes in another robot.
The front wedge also features a Firestorm-style blade and two flat spears to aid in getting under the opposition. The wedge itself is now home to several Mute-style barbs to help ensnare other robots.
SRIMECH- A forward-hinged pneumatic arm on either side, powered by a pair of linear actuators. The rounded rear also prevents the robot getting beached.
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to AJ, et tu, Brute? written on the underbelly
STRENGTHS- Quite nippy, good traction, powerful weapon, difficult to get underneath, fairly quick srimech
              WEAKNESSES- so-so manoeuvrability
              PICCY HERE- http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1801/eclawdiusunumor1.pnghttp://img137.imageshack.us/img137/1...iusunumor1.png

              4. Revolver (SHW)
SHAPE- box wi skirted sides and rear
COLOUR- painted like the infamous Yellow Submarine with portholes on the sides n that, with red hinged skirting and the cover for the album Revolver pasted on the top
              WEIGHT- under 150kg, hopefully
              DIMENSIONS- 110cm X 75cm X 28cm
              SPEED- 18mph
              TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm all over without skirts, 0mm at sides n rear with em
              ARMOUR- 6.75mm monocoque Hardox. Booyah.
MOVEMENT- 4 inner wheels and a little caster on top/bottom at the front for balance
              POWER- 2 x C40-500 MagMotors, running at 36v (should give about 12hp, I think)
WEAPONS- The main weapon here is a large horizontal spinning disc at the front resembling an LP record. This is powered by an LEM-130 motor at 36v and runs at around 2500rpm. The flywheel bears two Hardox teeth (curved ala Pussycats), making it ideal for ripping into the other contestants. It could also charge at other competitors, get under them with the skirt and become a passive rammer should things start to get hairy.
              SRIMECH- invertible
NOTES- flies the Scotland flag, thanks to Aaron for aiding the design
STRENGTHS- powerful disc, fast, manoueverable, pushing power, invertible
WEAKNESSES- wheels exposed to overhead attacks, control could be an issue
              PICCY HERE- http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2271/revolverpq1.pnghttp://img526.imageshack.us/img526/2271/revolverpq1.png

                Srimech: Invertible
Notes: I thought St. Agro would be an ideal robot for my competition, so I made a LW version.
                Strengths: Invertible, Good Weapon.

                  Battlebots: Beyond The Battlebox

                  Unobtanium is a joke, Mark...

And heres my SHW, for your discretion and cookies.

                  Sekhmet
                  WEIGHT: 154kgs
                  DIMENSIONS: 125 x 95 x 25 cm
SHAPE: Similar to Hells Teeth - an invertible isoceles triangle, getting thinner towards the tip.
COLOUR: Sandy coloured, fading to greenish purplish black at the tip, decorated in fantasy art and Egyptian symbols
DRIVE: 2 LEM200s running from 6 NiCd packs at 60v, driving 2 wheels with Vulkalon tyres for grip, located near the base of the triangle (the front) with a ball castor near the back tip.
                  SPEED: 18mph average, 30mph max
GROUND CLEARANCE: 10mm at the front (although the weapon is 0) going down to 1mm at the rear tip.
ARMOUR: 8mm Hardox on the sides and front, backed by 1cm of plywood. 5mm titanium top and underside, with a covering of 7.5mm polypropylene.
WEAPONS: Primarily a rammer, but can also function as a thwackbot with 2 2kg tool steel blades at the rear tip, one located either side. Also has a lifting fork type device at the front, consisting of 2 Hardox chisel shaped spikes linked together by bars that pivot from the middle of the front allowing them to function inverted, running off a motorbike starter motor capable of lifting 200kgs easily.
SRIMECH: Runs inverted, blades and weight distribution prevent resting on sides
NOTES: Has extensive shockproofing to protect from spinners, non spinners, itself, other things and battering in general. Hardox sides and front are a single welded strip, so no ripping panels off here...
STRENGTHS: Good all rounder, fast, well armoured, maneuvrable
WEAKNESSES: 2WD, so not the best pusher in a head to head all wheels on ground situation.

Not good enough. You need to enter ALL four weight catergories, or none at all. Also...

                          Sir SpinALot in Heavyweight please

...says nothing. Contrary to what you assume, the whole world does not know about it. As far as Im concerned, its a cardboard box with a jelly for a weapon.
