  • How Could I Improve...

Joey, your reasoning is not wrong, you could easily do a 3 tonnes FP axe if you wanted to but instead of hitting your opponent the axe will swing the robot up and all you hit is air. That stupid Newton guy again with its laws of action and reaction. A flipper has less problems with that since the opposite reaction is directed to the floor, which doesnt usually move.

the axe is shaped like Hydras from robot wars series 7.

The Cyriliums axe comes down with over 2500kgs of force does not apply anymore.

Therefore, I am now in the great ast last.

Hydra and Killerhurtz use 2 totaly different systems of powering the axe, which one is it?

              The Hydra system.

Which would give me ???kgs of force?

Hydra uses a standard ram 63mm diameter, 250mm stroke, so about 500kg on 16 bars on the forward stroke and 470kg on the return. That with a decent axe head is not bad. Not THz, but not bad.

Hydras was the same as used by Shunt if I remember correctly...Killerhurtz had the ram going onto a chain drive to the axe (?) and Terrorhurtz is rack and pinion.

...Speaking of rack and pinion, would you be able to have a rack and pinion pneumatic drive on a disc? The way I was thinking is that youde use the pneumatics to spin it up really fast, and then the ram would contact a switch which would disengage it, and a motor could be used to keep it spinning. Would that work?

Hydras axe was indeed based on the same specs as Shunt.

Would it work? Yes. Would it be practical? No. Why? it only adds a lot more weight to your robot and overcomplicate things. You would need some kind of clutch system to engange and disengage, which is always prone to failure. If you want to accelerate, why not place a row of magnets on the disk and make the entire disk a brushless motor? That is lighter and less cumbersome.

I thought as much, lol. I was also wondering how Id make it work for multiple spinups as well but that brushless motor idea sounds interesting, Ill have to do some more research on that.

A motor used as a weapon. Lovely.

It is done before, check the robot on my profile. Its just smaller, but there is no reason it wouldnt work for a heavy. You will need some serious battery power though.

How can the blades force alone right it? Also, you continually seem to miss out drive motors for your weapons.
