The Outsiders Cup
Okay, I want to switch Seung Mina II with a newly designed bot, if thats okay Steve...
Its a design Ive had in my head for a while now, and I finally have stats up for it.
AVARICE
Shape: I was thinking Slam Job with the middle cut-off, but I decided to go for a Tornado with more of a rounded front end. There is a small front scoop there to defend against wedge attacks, and the usual titanium skirting on the sides and rear.
Colour: Dark orange. Axe head is red.
Weight: 100kg
Speed: 7mph, its not meant to be really fast, but its geared to acceleration.
Drive: 4 S28-150 Magmotors, run at 36v. Very light and still give off pretty good power, especially when there are four of them.
Power: 8 CP2400R NiCad Battlepacks, 36v, 2 for each of the MagMotors.
Motivation: Now, this is one of two things that makes this bot unique. It uses Omni-directional drive, exactly like BB middleweight Root Canal; it is 4WD, but instead of tires it uses rollers, with a very thin layer of vulkalon put on them for reassuring but not too reassuring grip on the arena floor. This will allow Avarice to not only go forward, backward, or spin around, but also go diagonally, or strafe from side to side, completely avoiding opposing attackers. Each of the S28s powers a wheel, giving it a good boost of power. Using rollers means it sacrifices speed and traction but thats okay for the huge amount of maneouverability Im gaining.
Armour: 5mm 6063 aircraft aluminum on the top and bottom, and there is 9mm HDPE on the sides.
Ground Clearance: 0mm at the scoop and skirts, and without them its 4mm.
Turning Circle: Absolutely positively 100% ZERO turning circle!!!
Dimensions in CM: Unknown, trying to get a CAD of it done...
Weaponry: Heheh...this is the other half that makes this bot unique: a 360 double-sided axe. It is like Terrorhurtzs axe, except it has a longer reach, and the head is different: it starts like an axe at the bottom of the head then broadens and becomes like a hammer, meaning when it comes down it will split armour and then make it the hole wider, and it is like that on both sides. What it makes it a rotating axe is a turret ala Tazbot, controlled independently with its own turn motor and speed controller. It rotates not only the axe but the pneumatics and rack-and-pinion mechanism inside. The axe itself is powered by 2 2.5kg CO2 bottles, which should provide enough power to serious hurt some armours, and its got about 30 shots. Not only that, but it has small hardox spikes on the side of the head; being an omnibot, Avarice can spin REALLY fast and so if the axe runs out of CO2 it can act as a thwackbot, and bludgeon some armours with those spikes. If the turret is working, it can also spin the axe making it go even faster, and damage armours even further...
Srimech: Axe.
Strengths: Maneouverability is crazy, extremely versatile and damaging weapon, good acceleration. Unique design.
Weaknesses: Poor armour, limited CO2, cant right itself when axe malfunctions, crappy top speed. No picture yet. (but I WILL get a CAD of it done soon!)
Let the critiquing begin...
