    The Outsiders Cup

Okay, I want to switch Seung Mina II with a newly designed bot, if thats okay Steve...

Its a design Ive had in my head for a while now, and I finally have stats up for it.

    AVARICE

Shape: I was thinking Slam Job with the middle cut-off, but I decided to go for a Tornado with more of a rounded front end. There is a small front scoop there to defend against wedge attacks, and the usual titanium skirting on the sides and rear.

Colour: Dark orange. Axe head is red.

    Weight: 100kg

Speed: 7mph, its not meant to be really fast, but its geared to acceleration.

Drive: 4 S28-150 Magmotors, run at 36v. Very light and still give off pretty good power, especially when there are four of them.

Power: 8 CP2400R NiCad Battlepacks, 36v, 2 for each of the MagMotors.

Motivation: Now, this is one of two things that makes this bot unique. It uses Omni-directional drive, exactly like BB middleweight Root Canal; it is 4WD, but instead of tires it uses rollers, with a very thin layer of vulkalon put on them for reassuring but not too reassuring grip on the arena floor. This will allow Avarice to not only go forward, backward, or spin around, but also go diagonally, or strafe from side to side, completely avoiding opposing attackers. Each of the S28s powers a wheel, giving it a good boost of power. Using rollers means it sacrifices speed and traction but thats okay for the huge amount of maneouverability Im gaining.

Armour: 5mm 6063 aircraft aluminum on the top and bottom, and there is 9mm HDPE on the sides.

Ground Clearance: 0mm at the scoop and skirts, and without them its 4mm.

Turning Circle: Absolutely positively 100% ZERO turning circle!!!

Dimensions in CM: Unknown, trying to get a CAD of it done...

Weaponry: Heheh...this is the other half that makes this bot unique: a 360 double-sided axe. It is like Terrorhurtzs axe, except it has a longer reach, and the head is different: it starts like an axe at the bottom of the head then broadens and becomes like a hammer, meaning when it comes down it will split armour and then make it the hole wider, and it is like that on both sides. What it makes it a rotating axe is a turret ala Tazbot, controlled independently with its own turn motor and speed controller. It rotates not only the axe but the pneumatics and rack-and-pinion mechanism inside. The axe itself is powered by 2 2.5kg CO2 bottles, which should provide enough power to serious hurt some armours, and its got about 30 shots. Not only that, but it has small hardox spikes on the side of the head; being an omnibot, Avarice can spin REALLY fast and so if the axe runs out of CO2 it can act as a thwackbot, and bludgeon some armours with those spikes. If the turret is working, it can also spin the axe making it go even faster, and damage armours even further...

    Srimech: Axe.

Strengths: Maneouverability is crazy, extremely versatile and damaging weapon, good acceleration. Unique design.

Weaknesses: Poor armour, limited CO2, cant right itself when axe malfunctions, crappy top speed. No picture yet. (but I WILL get a CAD of it done soon!)

    Let the critiquing begin...

IM NOT TREATING LIKE MY TOURNY!

Im just annoyed that Matt has said reverve me a spot and leaves us waiting for weeks, when everyone has got their stats and entries in, and he still needs ONE entrance extra.

Im NOT treating it like my tourny, I just want to get on with this!

Paul! Believe it or not there are more important things than a tournament.

I was recently made homeless and right now my priority is to get my affairs sorted and find somewhere to live, because I would rather have a roof over my head than worry about getting some stats together for something that is no more than a bit of fun.

OK? Now please, shut up and let me do what I need to do as opposed to you who is doing what at the very least other people should.

            Thank you.

Normally I would have said something, but seeing Matty post that above, just took the words right out of my mouth. Shame that you were Matty, really.

I will add this though, Paul. There ARE things that are called delays that vary in situations and time periods. Dont get all bent out of shape just because of a larger-than-usual delay like Mattys. In short, CONTROL YOURSELF.

Nice work Kody, youve put some thought into that design. Although I think you could probably just squeeze in a bit of Hardox armour pending on the weight of other things, it looks pretty good. The S28-150s will probably suit the omni fairly well since they wont be loaded up too much with the omni drive, and will be spreading the load of 4 of them.

Im interested to see the CAD, seems like a interesting design. Although, since its omni directional, Id ditch the turret idea, it will be easier to spin on the spot pretty quick and run sideways to hit an opponent if you need to. The save weight over a turret system will allow for Hardox armour

Not forcing you into changing your designs Kody, but looking at other robots with turret based weapons, they use them because they have poor manuverability. Gammatron and Pressure Drop come to mind. Although, other bots like Tazbot are the complete opposite

No, really, I just noticed you had a very good point, as a faster spin isnt really worth the poor armour.

                      Thanks for the advice.

You can always survive with no weapon, but you cant survive with no armour

Just going to do an exterior CAD, nothing special. Should have it up in a moment...

                            Avarice

Shape: Box with sloped/rounded front end. There is a scoop at the front, flanked by smaller front skirts. Also, side and rear skirts hinged in the middle will help against wedge/flipper attacks.
Colour: Dark orange with red axe head.
                            Weight: 100kg
                            Speed: 8mph

                            Dimensions in CM: 97 x 91 x 29 (main body)
Weaponry: A giant, full-pressure, pneumatic axe shaped more like a hammer, powered by two 2.5kg CO2 bottle. It moves rack-and-pinion style like Terrorhurtz. The axe head itself is titanium, and diamond-edged. It can damage even stronger armours like titanium and hardox.
