The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

Okay, were starting the lightweight bracket today! The first fight is...

Dales Dead Bot vs. Little Big Bot

      Dales Dead Bot
certainly isnt dead, but it might make others dead, with those nasty flipping/crunching spikes on the wedge. Its shaped like Atomic, and has 6mm Lexan armour. Anthony says its weak armour, but for a lightweight...it really isnt. However, it can be flipped from the sides and rear.

Little Big Bot is like a Biohazard of sorts. However, its got no skirts at all, and not much experience. It does, however, have a slight speed advantage, and a REALLY nasty axe akin to Dominator IIs. But it lacks originality...and it can also be flipped easily - could that prove fatal?

      Roboteers, stand by...

      Booth 1: Anthony Politzi
      Booth 2: Christopher Mason

Its on, and both bots take off, LBB avoiding a head-on collision with DDB, which is a good strategy as the spikes on DDB are very dangerous and are very capable of winning him the match here. LBB is, as said Chris said, trying to aim for the sides, but DDB is not allowing that to happen, turning on the spot and keeping that nasty front end towards LBB. LBB isnt getting anywhere using this tactic and decides to open the pit, but DDB has intercepted him immediately, rear pushing him from the side and into the wall! LBB escapes and hits the button from the side, opening the pit...and taking off the button too. HEY! What are you doing with that axe, LBB?! Youre not allowed to attack the arena! Our poor pit release button! And DDB very nearly kills himself, driving dangerously close to the pit of oblivion. LBB has now put the button on the floor flipper...? And DDB has rear tackled LBB as the flipper is up, and the button goes sailing over the arena wall! This...this is not in the rules of...you should be ashamed of yourself, LBB! Anyway, DDB now has LBB, but LBB drives away before the deadly spikes trap their prey! Ooh, how close! Tony can sense Chris tense state from over in his own control booth! DDB pursues his prey across the arena, but LBB pulls a slight of wheel, and DDB goes shooting right by him! Chris plan has worked like a charm, and LBB plows into the rear of DDB and brings down the axe! However, the arm of the axe gets in the way, slamming against the side and causing absolutely no damage! Tough break! DDB reverses and piles LBB into the wall opposite, forcing that axe up again, and LBB pulls it back. WHAM! OH, what a hit! A bad time for DDB to drive off, as the axe finally finds its mark, AND ITS STUCK TO THE REAR! the axe head has penetrated the 6mm Lexan in the rear, an almost perfect 45 degree angle near the top. Now, who has the better pushing power? I would say that its LBB, and now Chris utilizes his bots advantage and pushes DDB away from the wall, and TOWARDS THE PIT - but no! The right side wheels of DDB grind furiously and just miss the pit! LBB is still in command, though, and pulls back...which releases the axes grip on the rear of DDB! No longer the victim, DDB turns around and rams the fazed LBB with the wedge, but LBB rolls off the side before the spikes can clamp down. Chris recovers from his shock and LBB jets away towards the floor flipper again. DDB lowers the spikes this time and heads in LBBs direction, but LBB drives right at him and flies over him before the spikes can pop up and flip him! A dull THOOMP as LBB lands on all four of its wheels, but DDB has turned around and headed at LBB. LBB waits for him to approach, and fires the axe. The axe penetrates the armour of the wedge just above the spikes and thankfully comes back out. But LBB at this point is too darned close to DDB to avoid more contact and the spikes pop, and FLIP! Over goes LBB. And the axe rights LBB...right into DDBs open grasp! The spikes lower, and LBB is finally and nicely grappled. Where to, DDB? Ah, the pit, but of course. A few seconds later, POOF! Down goes LBB into the darkness.

      CEASE!

Little Big Bot certainly isnt the big one around here!

The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

        The second lightweight fight is...

        Fuzzel vs. Tiny Tengu

        Fuzzel
looks more like a shelf than anything. Its got 15mm of high-density polyethylene and a vicious-looking eggbeater-style vertical spinner powered by a 24V Brushless motor. However, its got exposed wheels, and its weapon only spins one way. Will Fuzzel be messed up?

Tiny Tengu is the miniscule version of the After Burn 2 champ herself. Shes got the two blades on the sides, and the spinning speed is 1000rpm. She also has a sort of aluminum foam skirt to help against wedges. It can also self-right. Ist possible to defeat her?

Its robot spinning time! And indeed theyre already spinning up their weapons and headed straight for each other! Oh this cant end well...
        CRASH!!!
WHAT A COLLISION!!! Tiny Tengu has just been sent flying across the arena, and right onto her back!!! Not only that, but Fuzzels weapon has completed stopped!!! Its bent on an axle!!! Oh my! Up pops the bar, and Tiny Tengu is back in business! The ring spins, and Fuzzel is in immediate peril here! And its NOT MOVING!!! The eggbeater weapon is penetrated into Fuzzels own internals, loosing one of the motors! Leo is completely speechless, and wide is the grin on Mr. Holts face as Tiny Tengu approaches Fuzzel from the side and impacts the wheels. It is dislodged by the hit, and falls flat on the ground. Fuzzel is going nowhere fast, and Tiny Tengu is coming in for more hits!
        CRASH!
The eggbeater is completely loosed and falls into Fuzzels chassis! The same hit, however, has disabled Tiny Tengus spinning shell! But its all over now, as the immobile Fuzzel finally gives up. Tiny Tengu opens the pit, careful not to take the button off, and slowly, but surely, shoves Fuzzel towards the hole. BOOM!

        CEASE!

Fuzzel gets his fuzz trimmed off, and a wheel, too. Only one hit decided the winner of this quick match, folks!
Tiny Tengu advances to the Lightweight Final!

Beautiful. Tengu. Even a bite sized Tengu is bad news.

I think I might have a chance against Nuzzel, though.

The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

Lets move on to the Middleweights!

              Nuzzel vs. Waynestock

              Nuzzel
is a rather blocky vapourbot with a nasty scythe/nail-shaped axe, capable of dealing 317kg of pressure to the tip. It also has 40mm of high-density polyethylene, however it has no skirts or wedging around it to protect it against flippers/other wedges. That could be a problem because hes dealing with...

Waynestock, inspired by Anthony Politzis own Novastorm 2. Well, the shape is inspired, but the weaponry is quite different. The whole front wedge is a flipper powered by 2 2kg CO2 tanks, however its not invertible, and due to its shape it might not be able to right itself properly.

              Roboteers, stand by...

              Booth 1: Leo van Miert
              Booth 2: Anthony Politzi

              2...
              1...
              ACTIVATE!

Nuzzel flies across the arena, and up over Waynestock, who fires the flipper to late, and Nuzzel goes flying, and lands back onto his wheels, and slows to a grinding halt before the arena wall. I think I can smell the rubber burning from here. Waynestock has recovered from the near self-flip, and reverses into Nuzzel, and sliding the rear wedge under the axebot before he can turn around. Nuzzel tries to reverse but its pretty hard to when neither of your wheels are touching the floor, or the opposing robot. Waynestock turns around, and Nuzzel slides off the wedge as he does so. Waynestock is there with the flipper but Nuzzel whisks away as the panel fires, and Waynestock nearly inverts himself again! Nuzzel does an about-face and heads in Waynestocks direction, just as Waynestock turns to greet the charge. FLIP! The flipper fires at exactly the right time and Nuzzel is launched up into the air! With a great THUD he lands right on his big behind, and Waynestock is right there, with another assault! FLIP! Nuzzel is on his side, and rolling...onto his back! Waynestock charges forwards and tosses Nuzzel again into the wall! Nuzzel collapses...back onto his wheels, but he doesnt have the time to enjoy driving around because hes tilted sideways by the wedge of Waynestock and...FLIP! Nuzzel soars...right over the fence! Another quick fight!

              CEASE!

              Nuzzel gets elbowed aside.
Waynestock advances to the Middleweight Final!

The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

Waynestock will fight one of these two fighters.

                Tom vs. Blizzard

Tom isnt Major Tom, but hes still pretty high up there. Hes simply a wedge with a flipper, with whiskers and a tail to prevent getting stuck on its back or sides. His top speed is 14mph to due some Magmotors. Unfortunately, its not really got specific stats, so it might not do so well. Dont count him out just yet, though.

Blizzard is a mechanical showcase. It weighs 19kg more than the weight limit, yet thats because of the unique rubber treading system. Theyre like screws, and they move inwards to propel Blizzard forward, outward to go back, or in the same direction to go sideways. This makes some serious speed at 17mph. Also its got two three-sided prongs which can gore the opponent head on, and also it has 7mm Boron Carbide armour. However, its pretty easy to flip.

                Roboteers, stand by...

Tom shoots forward and slams into the incoming Blizzard. Blizzard shoots right over him and lands on the arena floor behind Tom. Tom races around and comes at Blizzard again, but Blizzard strafes to the left immediately and Tom hits the arena wall. Blizzard is having a very hard time turning here, and we now have Tom away from the wall and under Blizzard from the side, and FLIP! Blizzard goes for a twirl! Tom is ready for him again, and just as Blizzard lands, the wedge slides underneath him and FLIP! Blizzard goes for a loop! Landing right on Toms wedge! FLIP! Blizzard goes for a OHEMEFFGEETEHSKYISFALLINGWEREALLGONNADIEORSOMETHIN GLIKETHAT trip! Blizzard hits the wall and Tom is again there, and FLIP! Blizzard is tossed up, but doesnt quite make it out. Tom turns sideways and travels across the wall as Blizzard hits the ground prong-first, and the wedge gets under Blizzard yet again! FLIP! Blizzard is getting dizzy, Ill bet. Blizzard lands away from Tom and disorineted, Alex drives him right back into Tom! Tom tosses precisely when Blizzard hits the wedge, and FLIP! Tossed again! Blizzard hits the pitch with great force, and something now seems to be wrong with Blizzard. Apparently, the left screw is working only! This is NOT good for Blizzard! Tom is taking advantage is this unfortunate situation and rams Blizzard again. FLIP! The flipper does its work. Blizzard lands near the wall again. Tom rams him again. FLIP! Blizzard is tossed, and bounces into the railing, and is now stuck on the wall with his prongs on the arena flo - HAHAHAHAHA! Ive never seen that happen before! Lets see that one again...Blizzard is using its left screw to ride the railing, and it hit the other wall in the CPZ! And guess what? Its STILL stuck on the wall! And heres Tom, with the wedge, and FLIP! Blizzard topples over, and the camera track claims another victim.

                CEASE!

                The Blizzard has melted.

                      Lets go, superheavies!

                      Red Knight vs. Puzzel

                      Red Knight
is one huge son of a gun. A tough 4WD with some powerful LEM130 motors, hes also got a turret attached to the top, which sports 30kg of hardox armour. Attached to the panel is a 25kg horizontally mounted flywheel. Also featured are bristle skirts that prevent flippers from getting in at all. He also weighs 155kg.

Puzzel is a flipbot. Hes got a giant flipper powered by 2 2kg CO2 tanks, and extremely tough armour comprised of 40mm HDPE, 3.2 hardox, and 10mm 7075 aircraft aluminum. Unfortunately, he weighs about 20kg less than his opponent, and that could prove distatrous.

WHOA! Puzzel just went flying across the arena right into Red Knight! Red Knight wobbles, and that raises the bristle skirts just enough for Puzzel to penetrate them! FLIP! Red Knight is already toppled! Puzzel does not wait for Red Knight to right itself, but instead shoves Red Knight towards the nearby CPZ! My, theyre big bots, SHWs. Red Knight takes up almost the whole CPZ! Red Knights arm on the turret pops, pushes...and slams Red Knight into the wall. Leo smiles at the situation and takes his time to open the pit. Red Knight again tries unsuccessfully to right himself from the corner patrol zone but no can do. Puzzel comes for Red Knight again, and shoves the flipper under the turret. FLIP! Red Knight is slammed into the wall and comes back down onto Puzzel. FLIP! Red Knight is tossed up but hits the railing and again finds its way down to Puzzel. FLIP! Poor Red Knight is taking the worst of this match so far. And now Red Knight is stuck on the wall. It looks like its all over for Alexs superheavyweight, and Puzzel signifies this by letting fly the flipper again. FLIP! No! Red Knight rolls further into the CPZ! Wrong angle, I guess. Puzzel tosses again. FLIP! This time Red Knight goes flying a straight trajectory...right into the arena camera! This was all Puzzel here, folks.

                      CEASE!

Red Knight doesnt take his loss quietly, wreaking havoc on the camera on his way out.
