The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

    Scarlet Touch vs. Sith

Start spinning when he goes for me. If he wants to get under me, he has to get hit by me first. After Ive weakened him a bit, go for the pit.

Dales Dead Bot vs. Little Big Bot
Uh...avoid Infusion. I dont even remember how this damn thing works XD

    Nuzzel vs. Waynestock
Flip it left and right until the buzzer, try for an OOTA or a flip into the pit at least once.

    Octo-push 3 vs. Walk Away

Its an improvment over these bricks WA always had to fight XD Dont move unless I have to, force him to come to me, and hopefully Ill tear him up.

The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

wuzzel vs Wrangulator: spin up asap and keep the spinning bar between wrangulator and rear wheels. Let the opponent come to me, im not chasing.

Fuzzel vs. Tiny Tengu: spin up the eggbeater en drive forward into Tiny Tengu. Keep Tiny Tengu on the defense.

Nuzzel vs. Waynestock: Hit it as hard and as fast as much as Nuzzel can. It can selfright with the axe.

Red Knight vs. Puzzel:Flip Red Knight out of the arena as soon as possible. The 4kg of co2 go fast with a ram that big.

The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the -1>ff6000>Crash & Burn Tournament: OTHER WEIGHTS!

        Our battle for today is...

        Wuzzel vs. Wrangulator

Wuzzel is an invertible T-shaped bot with 5mm aluminum armour, not bad for a featherweight. Powering this small beast are 2 720 BB torque motors that run at 12 volts. But the nastiest part is that Code:BLACK style undercutting bar made from titanium! Unfortunately, its very easy to flip.

Wrangulator is a diamond-shaped bot with wedges and spikes that lift up off the ground when spinning to rip and dice! It has the power of Rip in its innards, making a plentiful 20mph, but its got lowly 2mm aluminum, 3 less than its opponent, and its light for a feather, which is saying something.

        Roboteers, stand by...

        Booth 1: Leo van Miert
        Booth 2: Christopher Mason

        3...
        2...
        1...
        ACTIVATE!

Start your engines, folks, the Other Weights tournament is under way! And very nearly off the bat we have a hit from Wrangulator on Wuzzel before the blade got up to speed...but the wedge lifted up from the ground there, and it went over top of Wuzzel, and Wrangulator tips up and over! Not that itll do much difference as its invertible and the exact same shape upside-downy, but maybe its control will be hindered? Wuzzel seems to think so, and after waiting a moment for its deadly blade to achieve maximum velocity bores into the dazed Wrangulator and shreds off one of the side spikes! Ooh...thatll cost him. Wrangulator away and about and making quite a rout, almost driving over the flame pit, now coming a full circle around for a hit on Wuzzels tire but Leo merely wheels the machine to face the wedge and -
        CRASH!
AGH! What a mess of sparks! The outcome of this interference doesnt seem to be that good...and sure enough, there is damage, to Wrangulators front wedge! The front aluminum panel is torn sideways, and some gears and axles are exposed! But the same collision also has lifted Wuzzel off the ground and sent him sprawling across the arena! Whats more is that the blade doesnt seem to be spinning as fast! Who has the advantage? Id say it would be Wuzzel, as the T-bot is recovering from his spell and is closing in on the wounded Wrangulator. Wrangulator is reeling and attempts a spin but the blade of Wuzzel finds the side and shoots off some sparks! Chris isnt too happy with the way things are going right now, and decides to take the only option he can: the pit. Leo seems to know the same, and Wuzzel rear pushes Wrangulator from the side, and into the CPZ corner. Wrangulator is unable to escape the corner, and sits there, waiting. Ah, but Leo was waiting, too...for his blade to reach full speed! Now Wuzzel relinquishes his grip on Wrangulator, who is able to drive forwards along the wall, but Wuzzel is right there with a gargantuan slash to the hindquarters of Wrangulator!
        CRASH!
Not only does this grieviously gash open the armour, but it tosses Chris featherweight right back into the corner! And Im seeing some steam...Im seeing some smoke...and Im seeing Wuzzel plant his titanium spinning bar right back into the front wedge!
        CRASH!
I think the bell has tolled for Wrangulator, as its front armour is destroyed, chewed up and spit out, about 5 feet away! And Wrangulator lays pathetically on the arena floor, smoke streaming out of the wheel holes and exposed front. But nope, Leos gotta cause more damage, and Wuzzel continues his onslaught...
        CRASH!
A hit to the front again tears out a motor, which slides along the floor and hits the wall.
        CRASH!
Another hit, to the side, slices into the armour, and almost severs the bottom plate.
        CRASH!
The same side panel is torn off completely, and all the mechanics are exposed.
        CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
More hits, and finally all we see of Wrangulator...is a mangled corpse of what was once a perfectly working robot. Panels strewn everywhere, motors, batteries, wheels...gone.

        CEASE!

Wrangulator gets wrangled into the scrap heap.
Wuzzel advances to the Featherweight Final!

Next battle: Scarlet Touch vs. Sith

          Scarlet Touch vs. Sith
Try and flip in, as thats really my only option.

          Fuzzel vs. Tiny Tengu
Go for those lovelly exposed wheels.

          Tom vs. Blizzard
Try and attack it with the goring prongs, and just grind it into the wall, using my ability to move sideways to dodge the flipper.

          Red Knight vs. Puzzel
As my weapon is automated, just follow it around and let it do its job - he shouldnt be able to get beneath the plate without the disc hitting it.

interesting how people always think that unarmoured wheels are a weakness.

Well, they arent always - vapourbotting does tend to exagerate the damage that things actually do, to wheels (see: slammer) but as a full body spinner, they are the most obvious target.

Besides, if a wheel gets torn off, it makes moving around that much harder, not to mention makes it pratically impossible to push anything since it cant move in a straight line, and reduces speed somewhat.

                So yeah, targetable wheels=bad.

In the words of sewer snakes owner:

Youll only get my wheels if you do your job, you wont if i do mine.

There are loads of robots out there with targetable wheels that never have a problem. Simply because the wheels are on the outside doesnt make them weak.

Yes, but there is a greater chance of wheels getting shredded when the opponent has a powerful spinning weapon, or is one, than not. In this case there is. No axe is capable of causing such damage to a wheel, and a wedge/flipper is certainly out of the question. Good spinning weapons + opponent having exposed wheels = a good chance of opponents wheels getting destroyed.

                    Unless youre Overkill.

If i were Alex i would not look at the wheels but that thing spinning in between.

Check the robot on my profile. The class it fights in has the most overpowered insane spinners of all, and no opponent ever even touched those wheels.

Im obviously aware of the weapon, and Id of coruse rather not get hit by it - however, I cant really base a legitimate strategy on defense - but as tengu is a full body spinner, if you hit me, I hit you, and my weapon is going to be lkess flimsy than you. Ill go for the wheels, but if I hit you anywhere it does me good.

I am not saying Tiny Tengu has no chance or cant knock the wheels off, my point is only that in my experience having wheels on the outside doesnt need to be a bad thing as so often protrayed. Touch as nails for instance has been driving with exposed wheels since 2001, and is still using the same wheels.

Which is fair enough, Im just saying that vapours do suffer from wheel damage far more easily - practically every fight my own slammer has lost has been due to people somehow destroyign the wheels, despite whatever renforcements I describe in the stats.

Anyways, regardless of outcome, should be a good match

The Crash & Burn Tournament: Other Weights!

Hello, folks, our next fight is...

                              Scarlet Touch vs. Sith

Scarlet Touch is a concept by Anthony Politzi, and quite nippy it is, with those two side hammers. Its also got two wedges, front and rear, to try and prevent other wedges from getting under and getting even. Its also got a good 5mm of Ti armour, but will its slighty poor control be its red card out?

Sith weighs the same as its opponent at 12kg, but is a much different bot. Its side are slanted to foil wedges from the side, and it has electronic plates that dig into the ground to get under anything, so says the wise Alex. Its also got a dandy red flipping arm that is powered by actuators, but thats pretty much it.

                              Roboteers, stand by...

                              Booth 1: Anthony Politzi
                              Booth 2: Alex Holt

                              3...
                              2...
                              1...
                              ACTIVATE!

Its Sith who breaks the immobile silence, and being the faster of the two is able to hit Scarlet Touch right away, before he can do anything! The plates act, and Sith slams Scarlet Touch against the wall as he does so! Now, with Scarlet Touch trapped against the wall, what can Sith do? FLIP! Thats what? And a nice one too, but not quite as Scarlet Touch comes to the nearest edge of the arena but manages to stay back in, being tricky to flip. Sith is slightly peeved at this, but now Scarlet Touch is spinning madly now, upsy-downy, hammers flying, and Sith is at a standstill at the moment. I dont think that those hammers can do much against Siths armour, but Alex isnt taking any chances! Or maybe he is, as Sith is now cautiously approaching the whirling tempest that is Scarlet Touch. And we have lift-off, as Sith guns forward without warning, and the hammer slams against the side of Sith, but nothing has happened in Tonys favour because Sith is alive and well, and tossing Scarlet Touch right against the wall! Tonys bot does a sort of wheelie on the spot, still inverted, and Sith streaks by, bumping the tire a little, and now theres a light tap to the rear of Sith, but nothing major. Now very near the floor flipper, which can, in this tournament, go off very suddenly, I must warn you. Heres Sith, with a shove to Scarlet touch, past the flipper into the corner, and Scarlet Touch feels the ragged touch of the arena wall! Sith activates his own flipper but only catching a wheel gently turns Scarlet Touch right-side-up, and Tonys bot is away and spinning once more. Sith approaching, a little more confident this time, it seems, and oh, goodness me, one of the hammers caught the wedge and sent Tonys thwacker away a few feet. Ole! And Scarlet Touch hasnt lost any of its momentum, its still in a desperate twirl of death! Sith, into the danger zone! And finally there is some damage, to the side of Sith, a small dent but clearly visible in the titanium side! But Scarlet Touch is now in a stranglehold, as Sith has flicked under him, and right into the wall! FLIP! Surviving again is Scarlet Touch as he still stays put in the arena...Sith is rather determined to boot Scarlet Touch to the sidelines. Theres another charge from him, and the wedges on Scarlet Touch are doing no good against the lifting plates, and Sith has him again, and wheel against wheel, and FLIP! Less impressive, and Scarlet Touch gets away again, spinning, a whirling dervish. Sith boldly thrusts himself back into the spinning hammers. Whoa-ho, Scarlet Touch is sent back again, with a little bump away. Sith is in his face and FLIP! Right onto the flame pit! Scarlet Touch flees the flames and accidentally hits the arena wall in his frenzy. Sith in again, and another FLIP! Scarlet Touch lands a few feet away from that toss and spins again, but not fast enough to prevent another tackle from the boxy Sith, and FLIP! Tossed into the wall! Scarlet Touch bounces away, and is again spinning! What perseverance! Sith is less than impressed by this, Im very sure, and drives backwards towards the pit release button.

                              10...9...8...7...

Whats that, were almost out of time? Oh, and the pit descends, but Scarlet Touch is still spinning.

                              6...5...4...

Sith tackles the spinning thwacker and gets another spectacular dent in the side!

                              3...2...1...

Sith carries Scarlet Touch to the wall and, once more...FLIP!

                              CEASE!

OH MY GOODNESS! Scarlet Touch is finally out of the arena, but unfortunately for Sith, it happened after time ran out, so to the judges it goes!

As from the heavyweight Crash & Burn Tournament, the decision is based on style, control, damage, aggression, and strategy. All categories are out of 5.

                              Scarlet Touch - Sith

                              Style (2/5 - 3/5)
                              Control (1/5 - 4/5)
                              Damage (3/5 - 2/5)
                              Aggression (0/5 - 5/5)
                              Strategy (2/5 - 3/5)

                              TOTAL = (8/25 - 17/25)

Scarlet Touch is touched by the devil. Back to bloody hell you go, sir!
Sith advances to the Featherweight Final!
