    Curse that decent Diesectoralike!

    This has been another cracking tournament, Kody, and Im chuffed to make the top 8, especially with such an old, obsolete bot. :wink:

    GRAND FINAL
    ELIMINATORS
    1) Sheer Heart Attack VS S.U.N.C.U.S.T.
    This is going to be close, but I can see SUNCUST getting a lucky grip on that drum and casting Martis machine into the pit.

    2) Infusion VS Tempest Evil-er-oution (14)
    Infusion does its annoying box rush spiel and power through via a judges decision on aggression.

        ok, here I go

        Above all, Sheer Heart Attack must avenge A Night at the Bar, SUNUCST did not treat Sheer Heart Attacks teammate very nice . As for the stats, I see something odd straight away. CO2-powered hydraulics... 3000 PSI? CO2 on 3000 PSI? Other than that, SUNCUST looks to be a fine invertible box. Those skirts might help it against wedges, but for my drum, theyre a bless . Ram the skirts with all my might, again, my tracks will remain on the ground, so I can push SUNCUST whenever I like, though not as easy as I could with Flank Attack. When the drum is up to speed, which shouldnt take too long, I cant really see SUNCUST grabbing me from the front, all hell do is damage its own weapon.

        Again, use my drive-system to ALWAYS face it with the drum, and from there, mainly go for the skirts, ow, and the pit.

        btw, what a lovely final this is... look how diverse the predictions are

          Well Martijn, Ive seen a picture of SUNCUST, and the upper jaw is mounted INSIDE the robot and so is the bottom part. So if you charge into the weapon, youll just hit the 12mm Titanium front. Just to point out, I may be wrong

                        Thanks everybody! In the next Crash & Burn Tournament, I€™m hoping for maybe even 16 competitors, but we shall see.

                        Now then, I have some awards to give away, oh yes. This is the big surprise.

                        Most Original Design

                        There were quite a few original designs in here, including Grand Finalists Infusion and Sheer Heart Attack. However this award goes to BIACS-LE. Being able to protect your disc and sacrifice your armour to get in a huge shot has really never been done before this successfully, and in this method. This is top notch in my books. Congratulations Matthew Fowler.

                        Best Engineered Vapourbot

                        This just had to be given to that one bot, that one bot whose ingenuity gave itself a huge advantage every time. Infusion wins this award fair and square, the Kinetic Boost in its rim giving it unparalleled ramming force, which drove it to the Grand Finals. Congratulations Aaron Knight.

                        Best Sportsman

                        Everybody played nice, but the one who played nicest was none other than our own Martijn M Benschop. Congratulations Martijn.

                        Best Fight

                        I€™m sure everyone would agree with me, but the best fight of the entire tournament so far was the epic tale of The Disc 5 vs. Infusion in the semi-finals.

                        Best Design

                        Again, there were many designs out there that competed for this, but the bot that beat them all to it was Tempest Evil-er-oution, as its spinning, bouncing ring has little disadvantages and its tactics have earned it a spot in the Grand Finals. Congratulations Frank Goacher.

                        There you have it, five awards have been given out and all is said and done...except...

                              We are drawing to an end...but it doesn€™t end until we have gone through the entire tournament. Thus begins...the Grand Final!

                              SUNCUST vs. Sheer Heart Attack

                              Roboteers, stand by!

                              Booth 1: Sheer Heart Attack

                              ACTIVATE!!!!

                              And the Grand Final is off! SUNCUST speeds in straight away, box-rushing the drum, but is extremely unlucky as Sheer Heart Attack swerves away, as it keeps that drum pointing at his opposition. Tony moves SUNCUST again towards his drumming foe, who no longer hesitates and comes forward to greet him, drum spinning like crazy!
                              CRASH!!!
                              Whoa, what a hit! SUNCUST didn€™t move at all from that hit! And you know why? SHA just drove onto the lower jaw, which stabilized Tony€™s bot and in turn gave it a powerful shock! The upper jaw comes closing down but Martijn has moved SHA away very quickly, as he definitely doesn€™t want to meet the same fate as his brother, A Night at the Bar. Tony curses slightly and pushes SUNCUST back towards his foe, only to find SHA has moved into the middle of the arena get room to spin up the drum. And SHA is indeed spinning the drum up, and those 10 teeth look quite deadly right about now...however SUNCUST is certainly brave enough to venture into it!
                              CRASH!!!
                              Another slamming blow and SUNCUST€™S GOT SHEER HEART ATTACK BY THE DRUM!!! A hit to the front was shrugged off and Tony€™s clamper has clamped Martijn€™s drummer! But wait! Look at this! SHA is pulling backwards with all his might, and seems to be winning the pull! SUNCUST pushes back instead, sending SHA backwards VERY fast, but Martijn turns SHA so that SUNCUST is facing the arena wall. Then he drives SUNCUST towards it, and now Tony has his bot pinned. Those spikes of SUNCUST aren€™t doing any damage as they are only around the drum, they do have a very secure hold however SHA seems to have the more power here, and this has backfired on Tony completely, as he is trapped by the work of his own weapon. SHA continues to hold him there, until The Watcher makes another one of his roundabouts around the arena and bumps into him. SHA pulls backwards, and SUNCUST opens the jaws releasing the drumbot...and no damage to the drum, €˜cause it€™s going again! SUNCUST moves in again to stop the drum...
                              CRASH!!
                              Just a bit less powerful, but it€™s moved SUNCUST back a tad and SHA moves away. Tony sees that he can€™t push SHA from the front, and decides to go for the sides this time. Martijn realizes this as well and keeps the drum pointed at SUNCUST, making a sudden leap. SUNCUST spins around and get nicks in the corner.
                              CRASH!
                              The blow sends SUNCUST up and over onto his back, and I€™d say that it doesn€™t make that much of a difference, except that SUNCUST€™s upper teeth are now his lower teeth, and are in SHA€™s radar now. Martijn moves SHA forwards again, seeing many advantages to work with, but SUNCUST has evaded him and gone for the sides! But SHA quickly turns to fend him off and the drum blasts the now-lower teeth.
                              CRASH!!!
                              A tooth comes flying off instantly and SUNCUST moves in, trying to get a decent chance at clamping the drummer but SHA is backing up, evading that, and moves in with the drum again. SUNCUST doesn€™t want to have another tooth pulled and gets the hell out of the way, indeed turning and backing all the way to the other end of the arena for more room to manoeuvre. Martijn is now rather confident, and wants to have a go at SUNCUST€™s sides, so he steers SHA around the closed pit, and swinging straight towards the jawed bot. SUNCUST flies right by him however, and goes for the pit release button. BANG! We have drop-down! SHA turns right around and takes a shot at SUNCUST€™s rear, only for SUNCUST to turn and get it in the front instead!
                              CRASH!!!
                              Another good hit, I must say! SUNCUST still isn€™t looking too bad after that hit, and tries to chomp in on the drum but SHA is away, backing up and having another try at the front of SUNCUST, as the drum accelerates to full speed very quickly!
                              CRASH!
                              OOH! SUNCUST€™s jaw has been hit! And by the looks of it, it€™s smacked SUNCUST up and against the arena wall! The jaw opens again, and pushes against the arena wall to free SUNCUST, but SHA moves in again, and -
                              CRASH!
                              Well, that looked awkward. SUNCUST has been hit and sent flying at near-terminal velocity into the air, and comes right down upon SHA...AND THIS LOOKS LIKE IT€™S IT, FOLKS! SHA has SUNCUST on top of him, right on top of the drum! The rear end falls off of the drum, but the drum of SHA is wedged underneath SUNCUST€™s underbelly, right where Martijn wants it to be! The pit is so close! Can SHA do it? ...YES! SUNCUST is a goner as he gets shoved right down into the pit!

                              CEASE!

                              SUNCUST fails at the second-last hurdle, but...
                              +1>SHEER HEART ATTACK ADVANCES TO THE FINAL BATTLE!!!!!

                              Tempest Evil-er-oution (14) vs. Infusion

                              ACTIVATE!!!!

                              A very ominous start, as the horizontal spinners start to get to speed. You can just see the concentration in each face as Frank and Aaron direct their machines to kill the other one. Infusion is the first one out, with the wedge flying in towards Tempest. Tempest can€™t seem to avoid it! WHAM! ...and we have a flying ring spinner once again! Tempest goes overtop of Infusion€™s low wedge and spins itself into a frenzy, going completely out of control! Infusion remains steady, trying to calculate where Tempest will eventually land, and it€™s right beside him, fortunately completely un-spun and vulnerable! Quickly Infusion goes to ram him but Tempest barely avoids it and roams the arena spinning up again. Aaron won€™t have that, no sir, and Infusion flies in with the wedge again, but this time Frank is far prepared, and even with Infusion€™s Kinetic Boost, Tempest easily avoids the charge, and homes in on Infusion€™s spinning rim!
                              CRASH!!!!
                              Let€™s see, who won the most sparks? It doesn€™t matter because seeing them all brought a tear to my eye...and both bots have been flung quite a bit away from each other in that one. Hmm...there seems to be a dent in Infusion€™s rim, but nothing too serious, it would seem. Tempest is okay, and now spinning up again. Aaron shakes his head, he€™s going to have to turn his game up a notch. Infusion comes back in, but a bit slowly this time, even as his rim begins a wild charge-up towards max RPM. Tempest isn€™t moving, but he€™s not immobilized, as Frank is standing in his booth, not moving the controls, waiting for something to happen. Clearly Aaron is doing the same, as Infusion has stopped as well. The situation is very tense, and the audience hold their breath...and then Tempest breaks the vigil and moves away from Infusion. Instinctively, Aaron€™s bot follows Tempest, but then Tempest does a nice little swerve around Infusion. Infusion turns extremely fast, but Tempest does another wild swerve and smacks into the rim, from the other side!
                              CRASH!!!!
                              A massive hit, and massive amounts of sparks, but Infusion hasn€™t even received a dent this time around. Tempest is still looking fine as well, but Infusion races across the arena, desperate to stop Tempest from doing so much as receiving any transmissions from Frank€™s control. And he does! WHAM! Tempest is slammed into and wedged - and off! Tempest falls off the wedge, but Infusion turns around and scoops him back onto it instantly! Hey, look, Tempest is spinning up again...but not fully. And...
                              CRASH!
                              Tempest hits the wall, thankfully not even halfway up to speed, but the force of Infusion€™s ram bounces him a long way along the wall, and he almost comes to the edge of Asterix€™s CPZ, but swerves away as the house robot gets nearer, and Infusion ends up crashing into Asterix instead! But Asterix is outdone by Infusion, and gotten under is slammed into the corner and onto the rim, which spins still. Tempest won€™t have that for long, though...
                              CRASH!!!!
                              The ring hits the rim once more, and that must have hurt. Tempest didn€™t move away that far, maybe a metre or so, but he€™s spinning up again, as Infusion backs up with the house robot on top. Double Whamlet looks ready to interfere, but Asterix falls off the rim before that, and before Tempest can have another go, so Frank backs Tempest away. Infusion spins around and shoves Asterix away before turning to face Tempest again. Again, we have a very big silence as each robot tries to psych out the other. Then it is broken again, but now by Infusion! Frank is quick again, though, and Tempest avoids the raging charge and brings the ring back into Infusion€™s rim!
                              CRASH!!!!
                              A fourth hit, and WHOA!!! The rim has been loosened! We have major damage, finally! Infusion is spun away as is Tempest, but the major difference is that Tempest still has a spinning weapon, and Infusion, sadly, does not anymore! Aaron is trying to sugar-coat it, but his eyes are pained as he stares down at the broken, once-whole rim. Tempest rolls in for another attack, and Infusion€™s main tactic now seems to be to point the wedge at him. And even without the rim, Infusion is doing quite a nice job of that, as Tempest is forced to turn and try again. Again he is denied as Infusion has him lined up. Infusion suddenly moves forwards, hoping to catch Frank by surprise, but that seemed to be a pretty bad move, as Tempest moves around this, and smacks into the rim again!
                              CRASH!!!
                              Infusion is smashed all the way across the arena, and Tempest is sent back a foot into the arena wall. ...and I think we have found Sheer Heart Attack€™s final opponent. Infusion, sad to say, has lost all life in him as we know it. Tempest€™s hit and run tactics really paid off here, and Aaron acknowledges defeat, setting his controls down and giving Frank a modest applause. Frank waves at him as The Watcher wheels over to Infusion and begins counting it out.
                              1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!

                              CEASE!

                              Infusion was a great competitor, but there was a greater one this fight.

                                Once again, Im completely incorrect with all my predictions

                                Ah well, here goes again.

                                SUNCUST vs. Infusion
                                SUNCUST to grapple Infusion and get it down the pit fairly quickly.

                                Sheer Heart Attack vs. Tempest Evil-er-oution
                                Horizontal spinners tend to beat drums. That, and the fact those tracks look a bit vulnerable to bending, leads me to guess Tempest will win unless Marti can pull off some really good driving.

                                Some great fights, and two good finalists, excessive wootiness from me. :P
