  • The Crash & Burn Tournament 2

    Yay! The battle Baldur was build for, now to see if it can live up to it, lol.

    Obviously, its just going to have to continuously ram it headlong on, even though it probably cant damage me persay try to keep it getting up to speed because even with my massive padding there is still an outside chance of shock damage with somethign that powerful, plus the knockback would keep me off the attack. Get under it and tilt it upwards using the scoop so that it cant spin up.

      Im a bit late but woohoo! I managed to beat Wedge Devo without even posting tactics. Great fight by the way Kody. Psst, Paul! Dont let them know that the sucker doesnt work! For Round 2 of this heat, Ill expect NSBFR-X and Baldur Gamma to go through and meet each other in the final.

        Guys, stop getting so excited. The second fight was wrong on so many levels (and Im not saying that just because I lost) and Im not happy with it.

          Wait...Chris...does Cyclone Force run inverted, even with all set-ups? For some reason I thought it didnt. :sad:

            Cyclone Force falls off Panicking€™s forks, inverted, and Sky Blast ends up on top of Panicking! Martyn smells blood and reverses his machine, hoping to get rid of his piggyback riding opponent like his inspirer Panic Attack has done so many times, in the pit! Panicking€™s control however is inferior to that of the late Panic Attack, and Sky Blast falls off. Enter Cyclone Force, who is far from helpless inverted. The interchangeable bot aims to ram Sky Blast€™s side now, and does so with great success! Sky Blast narrowly steers away before meeting the arena wall though, and immediately turns to Cyclone Force! Cyclone Force dodges the initial attack, and has another go! The inverted wedge touches Sky Blast€™s side again, but actually goes over it! Cyclone Force€™s front-GC is just too bloody when inverted.

            Quoted from Mechanical Noise, Series 2. All the answers should be in there. In short, however, it runs inverted no matter what set-up it has. The only difference is that not all of the set-ups work inverted.

            Im sorry if I sounded rude before, but you do understand why I was a bit annoyed.

                That would be nice. Even if I do lose again, itd be nice for a realistic fight, with the Cyclone Force I had in mind.
                And Im still to be using the lifter set-up, BTW.

                  All right then, Chris. *reminds himself that Cyclone Force 2.5 is fully invertible*

                  Attention, everybody: Christopher Mason has demanded a rewrite, so I am going to give it to you.

                  Baldur Gamma vs. Cyclone Force 2.5 vs. NSBFR-X

                  Cyclone Force 2.5 is Christopher Masons chameleon bot with many gimmicks, but for this battle it will use the Storm 2-like lifter that can lift 190kgs. Its also got a body shape and drive system like Storm 2s, and 7mm titanium armour. It can go at 25mph, and is completely invertible. However being invertible means axes and crushers can find its tires...

                  Roboteers, stand by...

                  Booth 1: NSBFR-X, Cyclone Force 2.5
                  Booth 2: Baldur Gamma
                  House Robots: Double Whamlet, Taki-san

                  3...
                  2...
                  1...
                  ACTIVATE!

                  Cyclone Force is immediately away and straight into Baldur Gamma, who is unable to get under the lifter and is thrown up onto it. NSBFR-X rushes in on Cyclone Force with the spinning bar, applying his tactics immediately.
                  CRASH!
                  Its a deflecting blow but it still manages to dent the 7mm titanium of Cyclone Force; nonetheless NSBFR-X spins himself away. Cyclone Force himself hasnt moved from the impact, and is being pushed into the wall! Up comes the lifter! WHAM! Baldur is lifted and smashed into the wall with severe force! NSBFR-X rushes Cyclone Force again with the bar spun up.
                  CRASH!
                  This time there is damage caused, but minimal only! A small rip in the rear of Cyclone Force is made, and NSBFR-X is only jolted back a few inches. Cyclone Force reverses into Franks bot and starts to push him back, only to find Baldur at his side, and the scoop gets under the side! Baldurs wheels grind as he starts to shove Cyclone Force across the arena and all the way right to the wall with tremendous speed! WHAM!! Chris bot is hammered harshly and flies off the wall, landing on his back! This only means he cant use the lifter though, as Cyclone Force runs both ways up. But NSBFR-X is about to let him feel a taste of cold steel!
                  CRASH!!
                  The same side that Baldur attacked earlier takes it this time, dented badly, as Cyclone Force is spun away. NSBFR-X hardly moves from the impact and rues it as Baldur comes flying in for an attack on him this time. Failing to penetrate the side skirt the ram sends NSBFR-X teetering in the opposite direction slightly. This allows Cyclone Force however to get an attack in on the rear. A ram into the back of NSBFR-X, but still not going anywhere. NSBFR-X rolls forward and tries to turn to get at Baldurs side, only to find the scoop there anyway.
                  CRASH!
                  Baldur takes the hit and is completely unharmed, other than being buffetted back a few feet. NSBFR-X however and buffetted back several feet this time, unable to maintain his ground! Cyclone Force decides to try and right himself so he can use the lifter properly. He turns to face the wall, and drives right at it, raising the lifter to lift him off the ground a split-second before, and...WHAM! He jumps up, and back down right side up! NSBFR-X has not been idle however and escaping Baldur attacks Cyclone Forces front end again. Cyclone Force greets the spinning bar immediately.
                  CRASH!
                  Another small dent, now on the front armour, but its again deflective, sending NSBFR-X away and straight into Baldurs scoop! Its obvious that Alex is quite pleased by this as Baldur scoops up NSBFR-X and craters him into the wall! WHAM!! NSBFR-X imitates what happened to Cyclone Force, spinning away, tilting, and dropping back down onto his back! He is also invertible though and really, nothing changes. However Cyclone Force has got at his rear, and this time penetrates the skirt. NSBFR-X tries to turn and attack but is blocked by the lifter, and it begins to lift as NSBFR-X is pushed and lifted straight into the wall! WHAM! NSBFR-X is again rammed with great force, and flies off, looking a little battered. Its Baldur though that finally has had enough and reverses into the pit release button, opening that damned hole. Cyclone Force goes after NSBFR-X again and meets that spinning bar once more!
                  CRASH!!
                  Its apparent that there is quite some damage caused, as Cyclone Forces front end has been really mangled! The 7mm titanium got torn right in, but still Cyclone Force doesnt seem to be quite concerned with the damage dealt! In fact, hes ramming right into NSBFR-X again, and stopping the hardly spun-up bar slams into him and uses the lifter to lift up NSBFR-X and again slam him ala Storm II into the wall! WHAM!! Baldur gets back into the fight by slamming into Cyclone Forces side, but Chris quickly backs his machine away...to find Baldur chasing him down! However its clear that its not so good for Alex as the scoop again cant fight the ground clearance of the lifter, and Cyclone Force repeats what he did with the now shaken NSBFR-X: SLAM! WHAM! Baldur is pounded against the wall fiercely and bounces away! NSBFR-X gets his bearings back and spins his weapon up, but will it be too late?

                  10...9...8...7...

                  Baldur is also recovering, but manages to attack NSBFR-Xs side, sliding under it and taking him across the arena...to the wall opposite! WHAM!

                  6...5...4...

                  Cyclone Force chases after the both of them, and gets under Baldurs rear as NSBFR-X goes flying by.

                  3...2...1...

                  Baldur is lifted up but falls back down, and smoke is starting to spout from NSBFR-X...

                  CEASE!

                  Good fight, that was! Ramming good fun! Judges, results please!

                  Baldur Gamma - Cylcone Force 2.5 - NSBFR-X

                  Style = 1/5 - 2/5 - 2/5
                  Control = 2/5 - 2/5 - 1/5
                  Damage = 2/5 - 1/5 - 2/5
                  Aggression = 2/5 - 2/5 - 1/5
                  Strategy = 2/5 - 2/5 - 1/5

                  Total = 9/25 - 9/25 - 7/25

                  NSBFR-X gets the whole nine yards.
                  Baldur Gamma and Cyclone Force 2.5 advance to Round 2!

                  Round 2 (revised)

                  Terrorhurtz (15) vs. Cyclone Force 2.5
                  Mass Disctruction Ultimate 4 vs. Baldur Gamma

                  (NOTE: My error changed the course of the entire fight, because I misread Cyclone Force 2.5s stats. I have nothing against Cyclone Force, or NSBFR-X, and I did not rewrite the fight so Chris would have a spot: this rewrite was only to show what should have been.)

                    Thanks Kody. The victory wasnt neccessary, but it was a nice added bonus. But anyway...

                    CYCLONES TACTICS
                    Terrorhurtz, eh? Well, one fight comes to mind here...its S5 clash against Fluffy. Go for the disc option and smash it to pieces.

                    You know, its just occured to me right now that my choice for set-ups to use has completely gone against what I said Id use at the start. Nevermind, Ill stick with the first three.

                        Paul, Alex is right, I should have been aware. Im very sorry for that, and Ill try not to make that mistake again (though it probably will happen ). The only excuse I have is that I was a little tired.

                        Heh, sorry that I brought it up over and over in this thread. I was just planning on making a note of it once, but some people didnt catch on to ip :P

                        Good fights, regardless

                          Martyns tactics:
                          quote:

                          well go for the wheels and try and do what Thz did to smidsys wheels in extreme 2, i.e bend them out of shape and damage the chassis. he seams to forget thz was made signigifcantly stronger between between series 5 when fluffy thought it and extreme 2 which is the version i am using i think. so it could take more of the damage then it would have in series 5.
                          Aarons tactics:
                          quote:

                          Baldur is a very tough design, but its got some features that can help me none the less. Baldur has a lot of edges, the sides are all flat and the sides of the scoop are flat too, so I believe if it tries to ram me, Ill more then likely catch an edge and there will be a big bang as both bots go spinning apart. Even at a low 500rpm, MDU has a good 25 chances per second to hit an edge on Baldur. With the force from 100kg rotating even at the small speed and the huge drive train behind MDU, its going to get thrown around. And, the last part is, edges are bad for your armour, gives a weak spot for spinners to dig into and tear panels.

                          Will have the next battles up soon, if thats okay.

                            He seems to forget Cyclone Force is faster than S.M.I.D.S.Y, and his blade is more like that of Disc-O-Inferno, which was much more powerful than Fluffys.
