Tony, I wish I could make a crusher with 12500lbs force it would be quite effective and fast with CO2.

Now you Know it can be done mark a Impact cylinder
at 1000psi + a decent fulcrum, impact cylinder
produces 7 ton at 100 psi so anything is possible
I have always maintained that roboteers are slightly unhinged now I am sure!!!

Mark, the only thing you need is a ram with a 4 times as big surface than a hydraulic crusher uses.

If Razer has 9 tons on the ram, this would be a 3 ram. To equal that with CO2 the ram would be a 150mm diameter ram.
If you know that Kan Opener uses a 50mm bore(if Im not mistaken)As does TiberiusIII, then a 100mm CO2 ram can deliver about thesame.

Now, Tough As Nails doesnt do as much damage as intended, but acts a way faster, due the fact we downgraded from Hydraulics( expensive/heavy)to a custom FP CO2 System. Also the fact we have a rather small leverage-2 to 1,and a gian surface in stead of points means we are nice to the opponent, a kind of sturdy hugging is all you get.

In other words, It is possible.A pneumatic crusher.

The problem with TAN is that its too big. Every time we get in the arena with it we get the whole robot in side your jaws and theres not much we can do until you let go.

Will a 6 ram with 8 stroke @ 20 bar do then. Inlet is 1 1/4 BSP. Valve is MASSIVE. Dont know if we can get it yet still working on it. Single Acting with spring return. It was used at a local company for punching holes in 1/4 plates. The whole table the machine was on was used as a buffer tank. Dont know if we could do anything with it yet but its still worth getting hold off. Does Jonno want an arena flipper?

Nooo, the problem with TAN is that it relies on being able to drive about whilst its got hold of you.

If youve got more traction, all TAN can do is hold on for the ride of its life around the arena surley ?

I think the definition of a flipper should be one that turns another robot over. A launching platform is one that throws another robot in the air.

oh, forgot where does a lifter come into this then, if you count it as a flipper (Ive turned a few over) can I join, I do have flipper, honest. It just has a crusher on the end of it.

I think I heard Mike Lambert taking about a hybrid weapon that we should all be scared of.

He was going on about flipping spinners

                              sounds dangerous to me
