He isnt. He is hoping that the hit will transfer the energy into the victim. I really need to look into his eyes when he misses a target and sees the destruction that is self inflicted. I will laugh so hard that I will burst. Then buy the man a beer for the entertainment provided.
Mike.

Shane, dont feel bad if people compare AIR to Gravity... And Gravity didnt suffer from wheelies.. At least, it didnt before I took of the second buffer tank, that was located in the nose of the robot. Ah hell, can tell it now anyway... I was asked to restrict the power because they were scared of both their cameras and the fact that the fights would be over too soon.
Looks like the 4th edition of Gravity wont be the most powerfull flipper ever seen on robotwarsanymore, since its ram is 140bore x 120stroke, and is only fed by 2 2litre buffers thru 2 burkert valves...
But still, power alone doesnt make a good robot
But shane, just like Paul Id like to know how you are going to stop the fliopper arm at full stroke and how you are planning to get it down again ???
Regards, William
ps, dont laugh too hard, Mike, or else your flipper arm will brake off again...

about your wheels. i´m planning to use a mix of 55 shore polyurethane (similar, but better than vulkollan) coating with 15 % of glass splinters. A company in austria offered me this coating for for 45 euro per wheel, (excl. VAT and shipping) including special treatment of the ali hub (100 mm hub diameter, 80 mm wide and 20 mm thickness of the coating. they promised me, the glueing of the coating holds better than the yield strength of the coating

The splinters are very tiny, (smaller than 0,5 mm). The engineer in the factory told me, this mix give the best grip on a wooden floor. in former times they used quartz- sand for this purpose, but the glass splinters give better results. i plan to cover the wheels, if necessary with a piece of wood.
