Dont think 180w motors make for a pusher, was all about flip with this machine.

Well... (come to think of it) I dont think anyones done a slow-moving armoured brick yet, why dont you try? You might stand a good chance against the american bots if you build robust enough, put it this way, 4 days of full-on robot fighting is worth building a bot for...

Its not slow, about 12mph but lacks any real pushing power

Broadsword III has 20mm thick gas pipe as the front end with the sword to keep the scary stuff at a distance. The drive is a pair of CIMs at 36v. If I can keep the Americans away from the wheels then Ill be alright.

              Sean,

Julian has the right idea, pile on the armour. Britishg spinners [Typhoon, 259] were just as bad as the US entries but they both could be stoped by good armour.
Just show up with a robot that passes checks and get in a lot of driving pracice beforehand. If the weapon works, thats even better. The single most important thing is to show up with a working robot.

John, you are the master of middleweight armour with the SS. Is there anything that can crack it? Spikes work well against spinners if you avoid the cutters. Broadsword avoided damage against Typhoon because the front of the bodywork was above the cutters. Working robot? Mm. At the moment Im trying to see if I can bend chequerplate ali to put a hump over the gearboxes.

Sean, youll be aright. Broadsword is mostly harmless, although I give Typhoon a bit of a fright for a while. With current limiting this time, I can push without worrying about blowing the speedos (was Victors now Robots R Us)

Pretty thin. Ive bent a test piece, now to see if I can do it over a larger width. My techniques are far from subtle. If it fails then Ill try using heat to bend my bus shelter polycarb.

john and others, a reason (apart from your thick armour) that typhoon didnt perform during that match so well was that it was spinning in the wrong direction! Hence the cutters didnt work so well as they are designed for one direction. Guess thats what happens with a lack of testing!

Julian - Assuming it just needs a uniform curved bend, and its not more than 2.5 feet wide. Ill run it through our mangle for you if you like. If its not a massive peice, it should be pretty easy to post it each way.

Ill bear you in mind but as Im just looking to hop over the gearboxes, it doesnt have to be much or even particularly accurate.
