John the also allow 1.1kg bottles but they are quite hard to find. Also although they dont say it in the rules they do allow 600g bottles for featherweights.
But seeing as Robot Wars as we know it is over you can really use what ever bottles you wish.

Ian

Extract from the FRA Rules...
The compressed gas shall be stored in a commercially manufactured gas cylinder of appropriate design, specification and certification. Except where the maximum storage pressure is less than 50 psi (3.4 bar). N.B. Some events may have further restrictions on bottle sizes/weights used please contact the event organiser for clarification

John,
You can I believe use whatever size bottle you want ... BUT ... your only allowed 2 kg of free co2 ....the other 3 kgs will be considered part of your total bots weight at the weigh in.
This means that your bot must weigh in at 3 kg under the MAX weight limit.
BTW .... I have some 3.5 kg fire extinguisher bottles should you wish something a little smaller.

Marco in Hades used a 3.5 kg bottle (5L volume) during the championship 2006.
But with a filled bottle the robot cannot be heavier than 102 kg (+ the 2% messuring error allowance)
Bottlesize in the FRA rules isnt an issue, only the suitability of the pressure vessel.
Commercialy available, certified for the used medium and a pressure limit imposed bij the rules of 70 bar/1000psi.
*********************************
The disadvantage of sodastream bottles is the fact they dont have an on/off valve, but a pin valve. Other problem is the kind of connector on the head of the bottle.
Paintball bottles can be bought with an on/off valve. Are available in handier formats and have an easier available connector and filling system.
