Ill see if I can do the first middleweight OOTA. Im using Tonys old radio gear again and Im collecting bits for a low pressure flipper. Its going to be close on weight especially with a 2 kg fire extinguisher. Still if I can only get under that horrid spinny thing...
Julian, for a middleweight, it seems that a 1.1 kg bottle or even 2 600 gram paintball bottles are a better option for weight and space.
(the 2 600 gram bottles have the added advantage of more heat exchange surface and easier placement-so that would be my solution)
How are things regarding Robot Wars rules? The Killerhurtz site says CO2 fire extinguisher. This is the only type of gas storage tank now allowed in Robot Wars UK.
Yes it is flipping (pun intended) big. I was made redundant and they took at the high tech stuff away from the house and left the fire extinguisher. It will just fit widthwise in the stainless steel box I plan to use as a body. However it seems that most middleweight battles will be melees so the amount of gas may be an issue.
Ive got bids on ebay for some of the other stuff that I need.
Alan, the difference in empty weight between the two bottles is 2 kg and money is something of an issue. Given the choice, I would use the smaller bottle.
My robot not being able to drive anymore cause the antenna wire came off wasnt funny... Behemoth doing its best to push me into psycho on the other hand, was very funny ! But a rematch in an arena without edges to throw over should make a good fight, right Mike ?
