Personally, it is surprising that Explosion is a better pusher than most box robots, which really shouldn't be the case! I don't think that the Argos drill motors are really powerful enough (or reliable enough for that matter), and so I'd definitely go with a pair of Speed 900's.

        But that's just my opinion

u can get bare units off ebay for about the same price as the cheap argos 1 and the much better build quality

They seem like the best mix of performance and cost, sorting out my own gearing ain't too much of an issue either

@Peter, what are you searching to find bare units? I've looked in the past with no success.

Yeh I got some of the speed 900 like motors, and they were considerabily more powerful and better built, even if you have two Pairs of drill motors or similer, cos If one motor blows, then you basically loose all drive on that side, because the current draw from the damaged motor is so high that, the other cant get enough current (or the ESC cuts out or blows)

i just searched for cordless drill and set it to buy it now, i found a guy who was selling a load of 12v ryobi drill for £10 each ... there do about 600rpm and the chuck is more difficult to remove compaired to the argos 1s
