    Re: transmitter

it's to do with which side the throttle is on. most people go for mode 2 if they're right handed.

        Re: transmitter

Ive just bought a spektrum dx5e I have a couple of questions if someone could help me.

The reverse servo buttons are below the surface are they supposed to be like that.

It only takes 4x aa bats, is there a battery pack that I can get that would charge via the socket on the spektrum.

What receivers are compatable that gives the fail safe mode?

        Thanks

          Re: transmitter

yes they are. Stops you accidentally hitting them mid fight/flight

4 rechargeable double As would do the job if it takes regular AAs. Then you just have to get a charger that plugs in and charges at 6v.

Fraid I can't help you on the receiver side, been a while since I've looked at spektrum kit

            Re: transmitter

The DX5 normally come with a AR500, these stop outputting a signal in failsafe mode, so as long as your speedos have failsafes built in, you will be fine. I have had issues with all of my AR500s failing though after about 2 years.

Like Gary said, just put normal nicad/nimh AA cells in, i guess you can buy a charger for 6v, dont use a normal TX charger as they're for 8cells.

                    Re: transmitter

yes and they both work well. That said they only have the failsafe on the throttle channel. There is one of the cheaper receivers for the dx5e that does fail safe but i can't remember which one it is

or would it just be a better idea getting a dx5 for £45 and a receiver off ebay

Yes it would. I can't comment On the Saturn set but giant cod radio gear plagued me with problems in the past, I now use a dx6i.
