    Re: Speed 900s

i originally used speed 900s on 24v with a angle grinder gearbox, old vid attached. it was about 4 years ago.

If your going with a hardox disk, go single toothed, robochallenge balanced mine, much better with 1 tooth.

Woah, powerful disk... But I was actuly going to use it as drive.... Maybe two of the cheap ones per side, which is 2 wheels, which means if one burns out with unreliability, then I wil still have some drive... And if it gets to heavy, then I will remove one motor...

That was the setup I made with the 2 speed 900's driving a teethed beld trough a custom gearbox based upon 2 anglegrinders .

completely pointless. It won't deliver the majority of the power to the ground and will be wildly uncontrollable with only two wheels and that much power.

            Re: Speed 900s

Would it really be to much? I was going to use 8 blue wheels 4 pairs, to give like 4 wheel drive, but with extra grip... I might just go for the proper ones and have 1 per side then....

You can't get the torque to the floor.

Yep, but how many events/arena's with a steel floor are there?

The 2 Dutch arenas , the well used Feather arena and the rarely used heavy arena both use OSB floor.

The German arena used in the past melamine covered particleboard, but has changed to OSB or plywood.

Well im guessing the robot being talked about is being built in England...so will be used in England for competitions.... the biggest competition for fw's in England is the UK champs.... which uses a steel floor.

I'm gonna use proper speed 900s, 1 per side, stick with reliability, and it's not a very high gear ratio, so it's gonna be quiet fast, but if its not powerful enough, with slow acceleration, then I will fit another, and steal the magnet idea for the robo chalange arena... Hopefully this robot is going to be more competetive than the last one...

What kind of gear ratio do I need to run a 1-2kg spinning bar from one of the fake eBay speed 900 like motors? 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1?
