  • Spectrum dx6i or sabertooth problems

    Hi,
I've got a dx6i spectrum transmitter and a sabertooth 2x25 esc, I have put on travel adjusts on the elevation and aile channels as I am using 24v and don't want to fry sabertooth. I set it to use 10% of the power available so I could easily tell if it is working or not, it seemed to limit the movement when I told it to go straight forward or straight to the side (both motors turning at the same time both times) but when I told it to go forward and turn (only one motor turned this time) and it seemed to have double the power. Just wanted to know if this is what should be hapenning or is it using more than 10% of the power? I am not worried about this now but when I set it to use 50% power I don't want it to draw more or it will fry sabertooth .
    Thanks,
    Max

It has to be in RC mode and not Microcontroller, other wise you get quirks in the built in mixing. Aside form that you'll have to ask the others.

Sounds like your mixing is limiting the travel, this is often a 'feature' but no good for our use, are you using mixing on the speedo or TX?

        Thanks for the quick replies,
I am using the mixing on the sabertooth I just set the small switches to differential drive as instructed on the packet. How do you put it in rc mode, I find that dimension engineering instructions are never clear or give enough information

They're usually over concise but I wouldn't say bad.

On their website there is a switch wizard that asks you a series of questions and determines what switching you need.

          http://dimensionengineering.com/datashe ... /start.htm

On the 2x12 it's switch 6 that determines RC or Microcontroller mode.

Unfortunately, I have a DX5E not 6 and a Sabertooth 2x12 not 25 so my knowledge is limited....

I would remove the travel limitation, and just add appropriate fuses, if they blow instantly then maybe think about limiting.
