hope you dont mind me using this thread but i have got 4 12v argos drill motors and since i am building a 2wd feather i will not be using the other 2. i dissasembled the gearbox bit of the drill and saw it had 2 metal rings on is i found that pressing down on this gave the same effect as screwing the motor down so i took the 2 rings out of the other spare drill and put all four into one drill, when put back together it worked as if it had been grub scewed in. my question is this, will this hold up to combat?? thank you in advance and sorry if i am not being clear enough i could put some pictures if it would help.

If you put the ball bearings in then it will work but it will act as a torque limiter which can be less than ideal in a pushing match.

Grub screws are the best bet.

As long as the bearings are locked into position, like they are when using the Robo Challenge mounts, then there is no difference between using ball bearings or grub screws. They will not slip.
