    Re: My push/rambot so far

Okay thanks, but doesn't it leave the robot vunarable? So if a spinner disconnects it some how?

For example, Big Nipper went into full forward against the wall at wigan, and pete had to pull the link to cut power to the robots internals.

      Good bloke that Pete

There is the side effect of removeable links that a decent whack can dislodge them, however, there are various methods to keep them in the robot but still be able to remove them when required. For example, The Saint slings itself around a lot, however it has a cover over the link which holds down a lump of plastic bolted to the link itself. The cover can be opened up without tools and the link can be removed.

And yes PanelSmart, your LED must be visable externally.

Where would you put a removable link?

                Re: My push/rambot so far

at the back (away from any wheels etc). I would advice having it set inside the bot so that when the link is in place it is protected inside the bot. Have a hole big enough to get your fingers in to take it out. If you are overly concerned about damage you can put a flap of armour on a hinge over the hole but remember that you want to be able to remove it in the case of an emergency easily ie reach in and pull out, no fiddling.

You will find a fair few robots have holes for the link and leave it as it is.

Great stuff! Neat looking build so far. Interesting to see Electronise speedos in use- I must dig my unused set out and try them. Some luke-warm comments on the forum have put me off a bit, but yours looks to be moving well. Good luck on the rest of the build- get it to a gig!

                            looking really nice,

and dont worry- in my experience your first robot won't get wrecked, its the ones after that will get wrecked :P

we've all been there but even then, it makes you wana make it even better and improve it even more.
