Lead acid are good if you have more money NiMh are better you can also use LiPo's.You'll want a 14v and around 3000mah battery, technobots sell lead acid and car dealers sell them to.If you want NiMh the robo market place do design-a-pack or go to overlander batteries as they are good.

                    Re: batterys and pnumatics

hate to say it but if you don't know the difference between tig and mig then I wouldn't start trying to weld aluminium. Get a simple arc welder for around 50 quid and start on steel. Much easier to pick up the basics of welding.

                        Re: batterys and pnumatics

Ironically enough with that comment you have shown that you don't know the difference. Both Tig and Mig processes use gas. Each differs with how the filler material is added to the weld.

With regards to the best welder Tig is the prefered method

                        http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/aluminium-welding.htm

That page shows quite nicely the difference in quality of welds with both techniques. Problem with Tig is that the machines can be more expensive than mig.

I'd highly recommend staying away from lipo batteries until you are more familiar with bots. Nimh far more suitable.

Check out ebay for a welder
