    Re: removing drill motor chucks

I usually just stick the short end of the biggest alan key I can find in the chuck, secure the body and then hit the long end with a hammer. Works sometimes and not at others.

I had a very similar issue to this, are they the drills that Wilkinson sells by any chance? Sad to say I never managed to get the chuck off...

Drill a hole through the chuck (obviously not with the drill you're trying to get the chuck off of ) and put a piece of bar or bolt through it, then bash it with a hammer? Make sure to bash rather than slowing turning it, more chance of the sudden impacts loosening things

Seems the theory 'if it doesnt work, hit it with a hammer' will work just nice for this one!!

open the casing and put a flat headed screw driver into the holes in the motor to stop it turning. Put the whole assembly into a bench vice. Get a pair of mole grips, clamp onto the chuck and either using a hammer gently tap the mole grips until it comes loose.

Sounds like the glue on the inside of the chuck is decent compared to the crap thats normally thrown in.

                Re: removing drill motor chucks

tried those methods but didnt work

so i had to resort to hacking the entire chuck plastic assembly, spring and bearing reatining plate off

this left a bear chuck and a shaft which would slide out the gear bx just a case then of getting good grip in vice and twisting with mole grips

before couldn't get any hold on the shaft

2hrs, 8 dremel discs anumber of scrapped knuckles and they are done
