  • Capacitors across motors

Ive finished wiring up BOOM! and the motor controller seems to be cutting out regulary. I played around with it a bit and found that with exponential control on and a slow movement of the stick it works fine. Any sudden movements of the stick cause it to cut out.

I have been told this is very much like what happened with Swannys machine and it could be a case of needing toput some caps across the motors.

The motors are RS-550s (says on side of them) and I was wondering firstly what size of capacitors and then connection details?

What motor controller are you using?

Scorpion XL controller fitted, which is probably a bit small. Have some Electronize 30As to collect at Guildford though.

Sounds like the current limiter might be kicking in. Could you set the max travel on the Tx to around 60% and give that a go?

          Id agree with Gary ...

The controllers will momentarily see the stall amps of the motors with swift direction changes or acceleration.

OK, will try that tomorrow. At the end of the day, its not built to be seriously competetive anyway, just summat to drive.
