  • Failsafe problems

    hi everyone

Im having trouble with a certain failsafe. At Magna i only had one failsafe but then after the event proceeded to buy another. this time i got a cheaper one (See My profile for the pic) but this one doesnt do a thing and makes the robot go mental. i did think it was to do with the first failsafe, as i thought it was short circuiting on the mount plate, but its not.

    What to do?

What speed controllers are you using and are you using a seperate mixer? As the FS has to be before the mixer, not between the mixer and speedo.

I cant see the failsafe on the pic, but theyre not between the receiver and mixer, so try them there.

Although i had a similar setup in Alpha and never required the failsafes, the ones built into the speedos always worked well enough. Try just putting a servo on the end of the failsafe to be sure that its working.

I think I put the fail safe in the reciever and into the mixer.

Is that how to do it?

          Thanks

            Receiver Failsafe Mixer Speed Controller

Previously in Conundrum I used a v-tail with some 30A electronizes which passed failsafe checks fine. But it might also be worth checking if the fail safe is calibrated properly some have either a push button or dial to adjust the failsafe.

I use the same controllers and dont use separate failsafes, never had a problem with the robot not failsafeing. Although I use a Futaba Rx so it may be a factor, dont really know as ive never used HiTec

i have never used a failsafe on any of my robots with electrolise in them, the 15 and 30 amp microprocessor controled ones have an adequate failsafe with in there design. remember a failsafe eg fs1 in the event of loosing radio signal will output a signal to the controllers still, and assuming you are only using one failsafe, with the radio off you now have a signal from the failsafe mixing with what ever the Rx is picking up in the way of noise. so your speedos are now getting a signal good enough to not allow them to failsafe and what ever noise will let them go nuts.

try them with out the failsafe, i think youll find it works ok then. or if you must, use two.

                  Failsafe problems

                  Hi all.
My new featherweight is pretty much up and running, however it has recently stopped failsafing when the radio is turned off, which is worrying me. It now tends to accelerate both wheels at loss of radio contact and Ive no idea why. Im using a sabretooth controller and it always failsafed right up until a couple of days ago.
Any help on this would be great.
                  Thanks, Dave.

do you use a spektrum that should failsafe auto, i would think you may have altered the trims or something?

                      Failsafe problems

                      So ... more info

                      Transmitter and reciever type?

                      Upgraded or altered ANYTHING recently?

If its a Spectrum ...been playing with the settings it at all?

IF you have a Spektrum setup and have altered the transmitter settings..try rebinding.

No, Im on 40mhz. Sky Ranger 3, micro reciever. Not upgraded or altered anything, its just stopped working, literally its gone from working to not working without being touched.

do yuo use and other failsafes apart from the sabertooth ones?

                            Failsafe problems

No I dont use other failsafes. And I dont see why I need to buy a Spektrum just to solve this problem, I had the same set up, with the same components in my last featherweight and that ran and failsafed fine, and this one failsafed until 2 days ago...its just a mystery why its stopped.

yeh it is a radical solution which is not nessecary but it would solve it, have you checked the manual for your controller they usually have info on problems, or email the guys at dimension engineering???
