So i had a box of goodies arrive today. Hobbyking supplied most bits but customs stuffed me over as hobbyking stuff came from hongkong
Anyways. Box got a battery. 3 esc`s. Radio gear and programming lead. lipos saxk and charger.
Add that to the motors ive got and the plethora of matrrial at my disposal.
I'm going simple for my 1st build. No air or hydraulics. All mechanical so i get simple reliable brute.

Typos aplenty due to FFS when using my phone.

For future reference, Hobbyking's UK warehouse is in Ipswich. Rarely do they not have the stuff we need for robots in their (smaller, but reasonably well stocked) UK base. Their international one is based in HK. You could most likely pick up straight from their door, a dream for most of us!

The HK warehouse is in Elmsett Andy. You can choose collection when you finish your purchase if you wanna go pick up. Otherwise £4 delivery (and normally comes next day).

The UK warehouse however, does still operate in USD when you checkout, so you get stung for an international transaction fee by your bank.

Yeah i was properly pissed off when i had to fork out for the customs ! I'll contact them as i was led to believe it was all eu stock
Specially as i live in Ipswich and drive past elmsett every day for work

Funny thing is, you are getting screwed over by customs / the government with every purchase you make. It's just that when you see it in front of you as an additional charge, it hurts more.

That's very strange. I ordered from the international warehouse and didn't see any customs charge. Maybe it was because my box of parts wasn't as heavy, but I've gotten customs on a CD before. So that makes little sense.

From international. 2 seperate orders as well !! So its tough shit to me. Expensive learning curve. I kid u not im waiting for a 3rd
Order too so that'll stick me as well i expect. Oh well....
At least I'll have most of what i need lol

                    Update.
After trawlng through many posts and videos I've shelved the idea of building a basic rambot.
I want my first bot to be memorable build for probably all the wrong reasons. To this end I'm going for a hydraulic claw style robot.
I designed a ram system last night thats not been done before. It may prove futile but it's all about learning.
Have bought a hydraulic powerpack as a starting point. Gonna have a tinker when it arrives and build upon it from there.

Oooh. I'd love to see something with hydraulics, especially in featherweight. It'll certainly be unique - I hope it works out for you!

Did you make it to the GSL?
Let me know if you want a hand with anything and I can swing by. Are you building it at work?

hi pj, yes building at work on my breaks.
i'm hoping the hydraulic pump arrives by tuesday as i've started machining up the parts for the 2 stage ram.
i may well take u up on that offer, will keep posting here as i build.
unfortunately i never made GSL as had some commitments this end

Presser is still alive (from Team PCP -Pulveriser ). Had some demos last weekend.
The first hydraulic feather build, way back before 2010.
