Ok, firstly soldering XT60 you need a decent capacity soldering iron (40watt ish) as you need to locally heat the wire and terminal and not heat soak it (which melts the plastic)
I tin the wire - yes it comes pre-tinned but this ensures solder has wicked up the wire a bit more. In the terminal feed some solder in and melt it in the bucket. This should leave you with the terminal tinned but not too full.
Finally bring the wire and terminal together and solder in. If you get it right there will be enough solder already though you might need to feed a bit more in
Oh, and I have my XT60 clamped in a bench vice as you need 3 hands

Though you will need to solder at least 3 XT60s for connecting the battery and the removable link.

Deans Connectors are night and day easier to solder than XT60's.

It's also an advantage of the EC connectors. The soldering is done without plastic nearby.

But since you already have XT60 connectors, and your battery uses them as well, it's certainly worth learning to solder them.

The XT60 are somewhat of a challenge first time round. But even I managed to get some decent results in the end.
