Update
I haven't really achieved as much as I would have of liked to over the holiday, but hey ho, at least its under way now!

Some of the specs have changed as well. I will now be using some tinyESC's from Fingertech instead of the Pulolo, and the robot has grown a little- 95mmX69mmX18mm.
I have also done a bit of practising on welding HDPE with a soldering and I am quite impressed with the results
PS: Sorry for the dodgy photo quality, the house hold camera appears to be full of pictures and flat so I had to use my iPod

Ok then, so after finding that we are unable to be precise enough to make a AW by hand, I have decided to take a different approach... 3D printing
!!!!!

The cost for this beauty is 45 euro's, not too bad. Just need to run a few final checks and it should be ready to print
All of this does unfortunately mean that Mini Endeavour (Mini E for short) will not be attending Guilford... oh well!
See you all on Sunday

Progress at last! It's been a while
So, I decided to go with Pin Point for printing the chassis... and by god, what an excellent job Alex has done.
Here it is:
Held together by gravity
:
On the scales:
Seeing as it only weighs only 87g
, I can start to investigate into a beefy scoop. I think that titanium is probably best for this. What thickness would people recommend for spinner defence (I'm guessing something like 0.8mm to 1mm), and do any of you have any off cuts that they wouldn't mind selling us?
On a different note, Guildford was a fairly successful event for us. I think we got flipped something like 5 times in 1 fight and got run over by Major Damage.., survived! We have also signed up to Maidstone and Gloucester... I think (John, did you get our PM?)
PS: I really would recommend Pin Point. No hassle ordering the stuff and works out a lot, lot cheaper than places like Shapeways. Oh, and the quality is truly excellent.

I have some 1 and 1.2mm titanium that I can cut up for you, just drop me a message as to how much you need or dimensions so I can fold it for you, whichever you'd rather.
Also, do you plan to have a mixer in the robot or use the mixing on the TX? I ask because mixing on the TX automatically set 50% limits on outputs so your motors will only run 3.7v rather than 7.4v.Last edited by razerdave; 4 July 2013, 21:05.

It's the TX. Any robot with single channel controllers (like those fingertech's you have) require an in-bot mixer. I was testing this the other day; 2 speed controllers in parallel, mixing on, got half power. Turned it off, got full power on each channel. Also got full power when I plugged in a standard mixer in the robot

Someone gave Endeavour steroids!!!
Bought a chaepo mixer of ebay to see if what Dave said works... its does!
It's know 100% faster and more powerful than it was before (no jokes).
Its surprising that such a small circuit board can make such a difference to a robots performance.
The only problem is... the robot doesn't failsafe!
Can anybody recommend a mixer that has a built in fails safe, or is there another way around it?

the mixers don't have anything to do with the failsafe, if your using your original rx (im guessing it failsafed before) then you probably just need to re bind with everything set to 0/neutral
im guessing you using 1 of the turnigy mixers
what rx are you using

I've actually found a few mixers that don't failsafe properly.(for some reason they seem to just retain the last output)
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-DGEVMXR.html this one I have had failsafe correctly, then others not without changing anything. If you have a dx6i or similar, you may be able to reprogram the mix to get full speed out of it, which I'm doing now on my 1lb bot Algos.

The summer holidays are finally here!!!!!
Made some progress on Mini E today:

Soldered capacitors to the motors as well as the ESC's. Connected it up to a bench power supply and tested it to see if it works, and indeed it does. I've got a few more bits and bobs to order until I can make anymore progress (duff: did you get our PM?).
Ohh, and in other news, I tried rebinding my transmitter and Endeavour still doesn't fail safe with the external mixer. Any body else got any ideas?Last edited by SamO; 29 July 2013, 20:18.
