    Re: TS3

    Looking Pretty

How have you mounted the pulley and bearings to either end of the egg beater? You would be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole in any way I can figure it...

        Re: TS3

thanks, and the bearing blocks are 12mm thick ali with 4 x m8 tapped holes and the bulkheads are pocketed so that they fit in snug to hold them and the m8 holes are to just to hold the blocks in place, the beater isnt attached to anything apart from the pully if that makes sence lol

I mean't what is the beater spinning on? How does it spin in the bearing? Have you had to attach something to the side the piece you cut to form the egg beater (Sorry, bad phrasing)

            Re: TS3

I designed Callum's beater like a bigger version of 540's- water cut from a thick plate, then the square ends turned round to fit into a bearings... Look at 540's build and you'll get the idea.

              Re: TS3

daves right, it was about the time i was making ts2 and ts1s drum was wrecked he suggest i have a beater like he was making for 540 instead. Seems it was a good idea, im always a bit worried about the 17mm turned ends sheering off thou, probabily shoulda gone for a bigger dia to be safe

                Re: TS3

Ok, that explains it What material is it and then I can tell you exactly how hard you would have to hit it in order for it to shear!

Wow! What an amazing event, started the champs off badly with terrible luck and ended up going out. But ended up winning the annihilator! Couldn't believe it and as the rounds went on I couldn't have got any more nervous lol. After I sorted the link issue out, the robot kept on being really reliable which I was pleased with. But I spend most my time between fights sorting the drill drives out which caused nothing but problems. For next year I'll make my own gear boxes and have them bolted tho the base rather than the bulkheads to aid repairs to let the robot come apart easier. The self righter control wants looking at properly, and the bearings on the weapon couldn't take the forces so its a case of seeing if there's a higher quality type or may have to change which type I use. hopefully gonna start making the new drive gear boxes in a few weeks so will keep this updated.

What was the issue with your drill drives?

Just constantly something coming loose after a few fights from all the impacts, they should be a lot better once I'll rebuilt them hopefully!

new forum don't seem to agree with me so dunno if pictures have actually added lol
