    Re: TS3

He's got no axial loading there, so no need for taper rollers.... needle rollers are more suitable for radial loads just like in this case - besides that they're compact.
Nice work there, the right tools in the right hands makes wonders!!

      Re: TS3

Good point, cos its an egg beater design it is very unlikely to get hit on the end by a horizontal bar; so thats how you beat NST. And yeah they are very compact!

        Re: TS3

bearings wise, it was what i had left over from when i built TS2 back when i lived with my parents, i couldn't afford to buy anymore bits nowadays! it was a mega push to buy the lipo.

most the the chassis materials are out of my works scrap bin lol

The mix of precision engineering and using up spares is great xD

Looks good though calum, want one of those self righters myself

there, and with all the electrics piled on the top its 10.170 kg! rest of the weight will be spent on outer hardox. carefully wana design that thou in a way to deflect disk impacts better than TS2s outer hardox did.

and will have to alter the self righting arms top bar as the robots weight doesn't fully rest on it yet.

Looking great! Is there anyway to move the srimech arm to the middle of the machine, that might help.

That eggbeater does remind me about Space Invaders.

                    Re: TS3

That looks brutal. As a random question, I've noticed a lot of people using the smooth pulleys, is that to provide a bit of ''give'' so that the shock of the impacts doesn't damage the motor?

                        Re: TS3

It means that when you get a hit the sudden deceleration doesn't reach the motor which can cause severe damage, and its very hard to stall the motor.

Its also useful for spinning down. You can turn off the motor and then the motor can stop while the belt slides on the smooth pulley so you don't get the motor acting as a generator.

                          Re: TS3

That's cool. What motor is it that powers the drum/egg beater?

Edit: And is the motor and gearbox unit powering the self-right arm custom built or something like a high torque Gimson model?

and everything you see is custom made my me at work, wish i had the extra time to remake the drive gear boxs properly to thou

Egg Beater runs of a Speed 900 BB Torque

Shrimec is custom... Made with an 18v drill motor with 3x the sets of gears that comes in a normal drill gear box.

                                Re: TS3

Almost done now I fitted a limit switch for the down movement of the selfrighter and its half wired up inside and top ti armour is done.

decided to ditch the ali self righting arm and went for some polycarbonate instead in the hope it'll act as extra springy defence against axes

all it wants now is the internal speed controller case making on the machine at work (as it sits under the drive motors near the weapon!) and outer hardox armour which ill make templates for this week so i can get chopping next weekend!
