Bit of a disaster today, first test clout with wheel rim on chassis ripped half the chassis apart. Baseplate and running gear looks salvageable however.

Sorry to hear that mate. At least it wasn't in the arena.
Re-looking at your chassis, does it need cross-bracing?
I have some spare chopping-boards if you want and will pay the postage?

5 of these, mixed colours. Best to check the postage though, it might be cheaper to buy new.Last edited by Bacon Wizard; 29 April 2013, 11:26.

It's ok lol am gonna use the remains of the chassis and build it into something else I've found. The running gear's solid.
Big problem with a wheel rim is that the whole thing has to connect through a small area. So unless you have a steel chassis underneath it the 4 mounting lugs seem to put a crazy amount of strain on the mounting plate.

Um. Is the idea that on contact with an enemy robot's weapon, yours divides into thousands of tiny bots which spontaneously fly up into the air in all directions to confuse the opponent?
Hate to say it Dave, but even as a newbie myself, I can see your hard work is gonna get completely marmalized, and the mounting points with the chassis will probably get ripped-off first of all.
Sorry, I hate being negativeI'd love to be wrong.

Lol it's actually stood up to a fair bit of stick so far, wel...more than the others anyway
There is a top panel and everything to go on yet but that's still being made. The frame is bolted through 18mm mdf. Then it's all glued and screwed as well.
I don't plan on entering it against spinners.Last edited by daveimi; 15 May 2013, 08:36.
