    Re: Brutus 2012

Still none the wiser to the thinking behind the machine. I'm not looking to be confrontational, just trying to understand the logic behind building a machine that is obviously so overpowered that it will struggle to use the power it has available.

The thinking has to be just to smash and slam and bludgon the opponents into submission, but I agree with Gary; I can't see you ever getting all the power down even with four full width go-kart tyres. 2 would be more than enough to hit things so hard it could be sent out the arena!

it would be more reliable to have two per side, means you wont get broken chains, and even if a motor burns out you still have some drive?

Why buy a Bugatti Veyronwith a 1000Hp+, if a 29Hp 2CV will do the task too?

Whether it works or not it will be crazy....

              And I like that personally.

That's not Gary is saying though, the robot equilvant would be saying why use 2/4 lems when wheel chair motors will do the task too?

I agree Brutus is almost insanely overpowered.

But Marco wants an almost insanely overpowered machine, so he is building one.

If it doesn't work out, he always can build 2 very powerfull machines.
After all, the drives ain't that heavy with 8 kg each.

Turn it into a cluster-bot? 2 Lems each?
Wait then you end up with the same problem... just times 2

I like the clusterbot idea, but a proper one so once docked becomes one robot. I also always enjoy Gary's comments, they make me smile. Sometimes when building a robot, one must push the boundaries with insane power, to then test and enjoy redesigning it. I'm looking forward to a video of Brutus.

                                Yes,

Invertible robots can have one at the top, and one underneath if you dont have it on the side,
