    Re: Rukia (FW)

Try recalibrating the XL. I've found in the past that if I calibrate it with all the servo leads plugged in, and then take one out later on, it doesn't behave entirely like it should. So make sure all the servo leads that you are wanting to use are plugged into your receiver, then recalibrate the XL. It may or may not solve the problem, just an idea.

The only other thing I could suggest is that if there is some sort of failsafe setting built in to your tx/rx then it could be wrestling with the XL failsafes, but having not used a DX5e or AR600 I don't know if that's the case.

Hey, just wanted to quickly know how you're holding all the plastic together?

      Looking very nice btw!

I'm using M4 countersunk screws. Before you screw them into the plastic, drill a 2mm hole so that the screws will just go in easily and have some direction.

Spektrum Rxs output a false signal on startup, which will throw out your calibration if it calibrates at the same time.
I had this problem with Saberteeth.

Solution? I think I turned the auto calibration off, and just relied on my trims and Rx settings to failsafe.

Well I got my fail safe to work, but the controls are off.

To go forward, I have to point the stick to north east , same go's for the other directions.

                Update

At last I got off my lazy arse and did some work. I have cut, drilled and screwed on the armour plates just need to do the arm now.

I have also go a new ESC same make and model and guess what, It's still doing the same thing... great :x

She looks like a mix of S7 Hydra and Mortis. Still need to put on some paint.

She will be ready for the Flintshire event.

Yeah I know the arm is not in line but hey, It's only my second robot and I'm not that good at maths.

She weights 12.8KG, and is able lift a FW easily.

                  See you all at Wales.

It's looking brilliant Lewis, look forward to seeing it compete in Wales.
How long does it take for the lifter to complete its travel?

                      Re: Rukia (FW)

With no load, It fully travels at 7 sec. I was going to put a 14V linear actuator from Gimson Robotics but they sold out, now they only have a 18V version and I don't know If that will work well.

I just hope I can get my ESC working when I get there.

The failsafing problem on Rukia got fixed. Lewis was using a AR600 which doesn't failsafe on all channels. We borrowed an AR500 from Craig (Saint) and it worked fine.

brilliant design and physics applied :O Really amazing. I am building my first combat robot (2nd actually--first wasnt good enough).
I also wanted to put a weapon like your's - A four bar flipper like in biohazard.. but mine is very very weak.. its underpowered...can you help me ?
please see my post 'untitled robot'

                              Re: Rukia (FW)

I thought I'll talk about Rukia's performance at the event, all I can say is it was ok. The biggest problem was the 35w bosch motors and the grub screws that came undone. And the lifter was too slow.

The question is, were to go from here? Part of me wants to strip down all the electrical components and replace them, but I need to find small yet powerful motors and have a custom gearbox made, so they can be mounted side ways.

The other option is to build a new, CO2 powered 4 bar version. But this requires some studying.

                              Look battle scars!

I like to thank Dave for helping me out once again, and to thank Craig for letting me borrow his spare AR500.

maybe you could use something like this to change the angle of the drive and then use a drill unit to run it

                                http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toolzone-Prof ... 20c79e55ed

                                http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OFFSET-SCREWD ... 3f1de50837

or you could use an angle drill unit like this

                                http://www.kingtools.co.uk/product.php/ ... //sn/49397

                                that's if there's enough space
