          Re: Cicatrix Build Diary

Rather than start a new thread, i'll just put Daiske II's stuff on here too:

Fitted new wheels today to allow it to run inverted, had to change a lot of the way they were setup and the bulkheads had to be cut again or altered but got there in the end. The robot was quick with the 75mm wheels and could lift the front off the ground when accelerating or spinning around so it will probably be even quicker now.

Got some photos of various parts. The last ones shows a small problem I had with the screws that hold the gears onto the shaft catching on the gear attached to the wheels on one side it was stopping the wheel turning completely, so i've put a spaced I had lying around in the garage to give it a bit more clearance. It came off of the 2 wheelchair motors I bought from Jonny a few months back, so at least those ridiculously big shafts (steady now ) that it took me ages to get off of them have proved useful in some way

One 75mm and one 125mm wheel:

          Both wheels changed:

          The wheelchair motor spacer:

Very Good Tony. Im liking the patriotic-ness here.

Just been meaning to ask. Is that front wedge hinged? I cant really tell (Due to fact im a bit stupid at paying attention
to every detail) Cos that could work upside down to

Looks like next Uk Champs we're going to have to put an even bigger St George's Cross on Bitza! And swap out the blue side for more red!

                Re: Cicatrix Build Diary

It was when I saw Bitza with the flag on the scoop that I thought it would be a good idea, but wasn't really going to do anything about it. Then, the scoop started rusting at an alarming rate and I sprayed a St Andrews cross on and then I got a bit carried away .

Its for the only Scottish event on the calendar, got to show a bit of patriotism!

Sorry missed your comment last time I read this Lian, Its not hinged its just held on by those 4 allan bolts at the side. It was a very last minute addition when the draw for the Robochallenge event came out when we drew Buzzbar so it was never really intended to be an offensive weapon, just something to stop it getting completely wrecked. Nice and simple big chunk of metal Jamie found from his work and strapped it to the front of it.

                      Re: Cicatrix Build Diary

Few photos of Daiske II so far, the Scorpion has stopped working but hopefully it will get sorted somehow.

Front scoop and top armour have been marked out ready to be cut but after that I have no HDPE left, so for Edinburgh at least, the side armour might end up being this horrible chipboard wood because its all I have left. Its weighs 6.5kg the way it is in this photo so already better than its original. Hopefully will be pretty close to the weight limit and be a useful rambot. Using ballast for this event too, 2 big chunks of some sort of plastic just to add weight, which will hopefully be replaced with a weapon at some point, but that is for another day!
