What is T-Bones weapon? I remember it being a saw blade at the tip of the T but I may have been wrong... are we allowed any kind of spinning weapon in the RR arena?

No you're right Alex, but the disc is on Matilda and would have been banned anyway. Took us about 2 hrs to get the disc mech out on monday. At the moment i'm just going to use the scoop on the back as the weapon, but we're a bit away from that at the moment, been concentrating on Eric.

On T-Bone, we basically stripped it down to each individual component then started rebuilding. Made some motor mounts and painted the mounts and scoop brackets then went about replacing the lettering, pictures and hazard tape. Should be ready for saturday, then depending on how Eric is doing i'll come back to it next week and see about the event a week on sunday.

On Eric, Either the belts are slipping from design or they have stretched over the past 14 years or whatever it is since Eric last ran. The idea was to have them running over some plastic blocks, but I found they ran better have a tensioner on the top and bottom of the belt rather than just on the bottom. So, i've made a kind of tensioner ring out of HDPE for each belt and it seems to be working pretty well. Now to test it on the ground, but can't really lift it myself.

Strangely, before the test we were fitting the batteries that were going to be a total nightmare, that was until Jamie spotted the huuuuge batteries I had stashed in the Dalek and we tried them out, and it was literally made for them! Perfect fit for 2 of them inside the robot, and it gives us a massive 34Ah capacity at 12v. Will probably go for 17Ah at 24v instead, if the tensioners hold up.

The weapon probably won't be working for Edinburgh, the complex hydraulics are a bit above my head so will need to talk to someone in the know about them, hopefully one of our hydraulics experts will be present at RL Edinburgh

Here's a video of it at the moment, sorry its upside down!:

Surprisingly, it looks like my tensioners are actually going to work. Had a test drive today going on the flat as well as up an down a small hill, just to make sure nothing was going to slip. Seems ok so far, so now just have to rebuilt the armour and we're all done, for the moment.

Now to concentrate on Eric Jr, which is in bits and has to be ready by tomorrow night. Ahh well....

            Eric on 24v:

Stopped it at the end as the Roboteq fell off the top and jammed the belt to that motor and the impact with the kerb made the battery jump out of its case, but obviously it won't be sitting there when its done and the batteries will be held in place.

Kind of, probably about 80%. When it hit even the smallest of stones at full throttle it would veer wildly off the pavement and get stuck, or take a chunk out of the kerbs, so I was being a bit careful there. It was going a bit faster when I took it onto the road just after this video.

My phone didn't have a youtube uploader, but i've just got one now and will upload it there just for you Alex

Even by adding the youtube prefix I can't embed the video, am I missing something?

You need to take all the crap off the end of the YouTube URL

                      So It should look

                      Code:

Yeah, Youtube videos often have some random stuff tagged on the end of the video address - it'll usually be '&feature=' then something relating to the video properties i.e. playlist/embed/redirect/youtu.be etc etc.
Just delete the ampersand and everything after it and it leaves you with the raw address for using in links and forum embed functions.

Eric's looking pretty good on 24V. Are you getting the wheel clearance holes cut in the armour for tomorrow or waiting until RL next weekend?
Got a van this afternoon, but typically when I wanted one of the smaller ones, they were both unavailable. So it's one of the bigger vans; just hope I can get it turned at the bottom of your street

Nah i'll get all that done next week, I'm still rebuilding Eric Jr and Cicatrix at the moment. Rover is completely rebuilt and ready, Cicatrix needed some left hand screws in the wheels but thats done now and Jr is still in bits, but will be fine for tomorrow.

Should be fine, its only a couple of Jags and a Merc parked in the turning section at the moment for you to hit
