james I would worry more about keeping it from the disc. I'm sure the arms could hurt if you caught your fingers in there but generally i like to have my link in a location that when I'm working out channels on the tx and it inevitably goes to full throttle without my input i can easily get the link out.
hand chopped of by disc
hand clamped by arms, other arm gets chopped off by disc
making the machine look bad...
Thats the problem. The issue with the arms is just being aware the cover all the middle body if the arms are up you cant get to the top and if the are down you cant get at the sides unless its by the disc. Dont want to cut the tail. May modify the central ali motor cover to hide them under there.
other concern is not lengthening the wire from the weapon speedo to the battery. I dont understand why but ive been told it blows he speedos when the disc is free wheeling turning the motor as a generator. Why would wire length affect this?
Just lengthen the Pos wire from the battery enough so that it can protrude from the robot and then before a fight twist the ends together. That'll do right?
And here is is all folded, nicely clamps both battery sets in position but has a bit of flex to absorb shocks. Also protects the side of the main battery as the head motor retracts back down the side of it and only misses by 3mm which is too close considering the mounts flex.
Spent ages trying to find a place to put the head speedo without extending the battery wires or putting shock through it. Find 1 place where it just fits in the base of the machine between the battery and arm mech.
Ti bracket made for the speed which bots onto the polycarb battery mount so it all flexes to absorb the shocks. only just fits! need to lengthen and route the motor wires to the front of the machine. Im using a 100a hobbyking speedo which i hope will survive, should be well over spec'ed.
Next job is organising the links. I was planning to use EC5's but they are just too big to fit in so may go with deans.
