did some more testing today with high timing and still no luck, i think its either the motor or esc but not sure which. i may have to run it as it is and use an interface board to ramp it up smoothly and put up with a 4 sec spin up time.

Hi Graeme - if you want I have another 4035-560KV here that we can send over for you to try, and I also have another Align motor thats similar power I think and 470KV that I can send as a test too if you want. Not sure if that's any help but let me know and I can get them in the post to you on Monday. Both Brand new so should be running fine.

That's the Align motor I have spare. 6.6kw peak so power's good (RPM may be a little low though).

Hi Grant thanks for the offer, if you could send the scorpion i could test that as i can put my 8mm shaft in it from mine which has the gear welded on but probably couldnt test with the align if the shaft doesnt fit.
