  • Lol thanks guys. Hacksaw to begin with, lots and lots of filing, a touch or two on the bench grinder to accelerate removing some bulk and some holes courtesy of the pillar drill. I don't have a good/big vice, wish I did lol. Each one took maybe 7-8 hours from marking out to taking pics.

    • What are the spec's on the machine? Weapon motor, ESC's, Batteries?

      • 2826 1200kv NTM, picked for it's tininess.

Generic pick-any-of-these 30a BlueSeries thing from Hobbyking. Drives are 10a botbitz.

Turnigy (not nano-tech) 800mah 35c 3s pack, which should give me *just* enough run time with the small motor.

The weapon reduction is roughly 1.44:1, giving a theoretical top speed of 10,000rpm. I'll be chuffed with 8,000 real-world.

          • It might be a good thing you're in Spain most of the time

            Will it fight in Germany?

            • That is well built. No real catch-points besides the bolts. Should be enough weight over the rear to make it drive properly. And if that motor does what its supposed to do it will be a dangerous little machine... makes me feel like I am once again overkilling the weapon on my new beetle but what they heck, it will be fun.

              • Spent the past few days poking Rango so progress on this has a slowed a little. Some new bits though:

Other-end-shaft-support for the brushless. Little bronze bushing (flange is .8mm thick...) and an equally fiddly ti plate.

Made the pulley that goes around the motor this afternoon and took delivery of the belting.

Disc pulley/bearing supports next, then I'm not far from a weapon test.

                    • That works real nicely man. It will be interesting to see how much of a kick it gives when spinning up not clamped down.

                      • How long before we get to see a smashy smashy test?

                        • I'm not sure if I'll have time to do one. Also, the old problem of if I break it in testing I've broken it, so if I don't test it it might do one more fight before breaking at the event, which is better. :P

                              • Damn... I think Anvil is in trouble. I wish I could get my Spinner done in time, and that Susan was going to be finished some time soon.
