Wow that's a lot, I may have to change the gear ratio on mine so it's not so weak compared to that... I might lighten the drum, and stick a bigger brushless motor on it, as the one I've got is powerful but it doesn't spin very fast

Found it, 280 Joules and 6000 Foot Poundals.

One thing to bear in mind Alex is that drums generally have a lower kJ figure than most spinning discs or blades. This is due, in part, to the fact that most drums tend to be much smaller compared to discs. Kenny's disc on 180 is 5 (or 127mm), but you'd never see a 5 drum on a beetleweight as it would most likely be too big for the design and too heavy (even Drumroll's drum isn't even that large!). A drum's weight is also spread out over a wide distance whereas a disc is much thinner in comparison, so it can put that weight saving into a heavier rim which, in turn, creates more inertia when spinning and therefore has a much greater output kJ figure.

Yes I sopose, and with the current chassis I think I could fit a larger drum, which is better weighted with a larger diameter, so if this weight class kicks off, I will make a better one, which is weighted further out, with the teeth heavier, but I sopose thats just future upgrades.

Just as a btw, I have 12no. 1m x 1m sheets of 10mm polycarb sat in the shed which i picked up from Jonno a while back with the intention of putting something together. It's a bit scratched but better than not having it.

If anyone who's likely to build an arena would like to pick it up then they would be welcome to it.

The arena Kenny and Tom were making was 2m^2 if I remember rightly. If the walls were 1m high, then each side would need two sheets of 1m x 1m polycarb. Four sides = 8 sheets, plus 4 to cover the roof = 12 sheets.

Hope Kenny and/or Tom sees this

thats good news, just fineshed my spinner beetle this evening.
the 10mm polycarb should finish the arena nicely

Yep, twelve sheets needed, that's why I got twelve sheets of it

I suspect that the fact that some of it's scratched to such a bad degree means it doesn't meet Kenny's standards (at least it didn't when I spoke to him over a year ago ).
