  • Any weight catagories between ant and feather?

Hi fellow roboteers i was just wondering is there a catagory between 150g and 1kg and also if i have a robot that only uses simple components eg 2 motors, 2 servos the reciever and 4 aas does it still have to have the different cut off circuits and remote links etc if it does get to a kilo?

Its ok i think i am going to build a lightweight instead as ant is too small a weight however there is still a problem about where i attatch failsaves/removable links in my circuit(see first post).

Alex, from what Ive seen in your posts, it seems the best robot for you to build would be a 150g antweight. Anything larger than this needs more than a Mechano set to build it. If you are planning something bigger than this, a few basic tools can build a featherweight. There arent many (if any) lightweights around these days anf they are more expensive and harder to build that a featherweight. However if you are going to build a FW - go for the maximum 12kg weight limit instead of the minimum 1kg one. Personally Id suggest building an AW or a full 12kg FW.

Hope that helps in some way.

my components are too heavy for an ant and it would be expensive to get all new bits but i am going to keep building and i will start out light but i am sure once i have put everything else in it will be a lot heavier. build time is not in surplus amounts as i am still at school however i now have the basic design in my head the wheels are finished just got to cut everything out of MDF put some armour on test it fill it with more MDF then have it as an ornament maybe when i am at uni i will have it completed.

Build a super ant, they are intended for people like you. You should be able to build one with the bits you have.
