  • About the Swedish section (english)

All the rest of you out there might have noticed that we tend to keep to our native language here. It is of course not to keep you out, but rather that we seem to be a bit more active this way. We will most likely continue having our discussions in Swedish, and hope you will overlook it.

Do not let this stop you from starting an English thread in the section if you want us something. Mark the subject with English like I have done here, and all postings in that thread will be in English. We will do this ourselves if we want something known outside Sweden.

    Best regards
    Tomas Ramdahl

Very well put, Tomas. It would be fun to get some foreign input in here as well.
Most of us speak flawless english () so ask away...

Well Im reading it for one - initially out of curiosity as to why there was an english thread in here. I assumed it was a message which held some relevance for all rather than just the Swedish, which it does, so it seems your approach works in my case at least

Im sure theyll all find it in time. Then again, isnt all this a bit unnecessary? If you want to make something common knowledge or open a discussion outside of the Swedish robot community then presumably youll post the message in the FRA chat thread or somewhere - as Im guessing all/most of you read the english posts outside the Swedish area too?

This approach does have its merits for Swedish events/competitions etc or stuff thats particularly reelevant to Sweden with a fringe interest for the rest of the forum. Oh I dont know. Its been a long day.

Tell us about it. What robots were there? How many? Was there an audience and did they like it? When is your next event?

I have a question. Would it be possible for you to put up a link to where I can find some Pics of Swedish robots, so I can compare the calibre of the swedes to the calibre of us turnips!

Well...the videos from our events can be downloaded from team badteeth. The english version of the page is not updated, so click the swedish flag, and then Tvlingar.
                    http://www.teambadteeth.com/http://www.teambadteeth.com/

Also...team rawbot got a list of all swedish bots, with links to homepages...dont think there is a english version of that page though. Click Robotar under Svensk robotkamp.
                    http://rawbot.rules.it/http://rawbot.rules.it/

Itll propably take a while before most of us can compete with UK standard....but the number of bots around here are rising exponentally...

Yep, Christian thats sadly correct .
Once when I was in Florida I saw a car with a bumpersticker that said Have you hugged a swede today?
I thought the had forgotten to spell swede with a capital S but how wrong I was...

Swedes are different from turnips, however I do leave both of them at the side of my plate.

Some years ago, ITV produced a programme called Alfresco which quickly passed into oblivion but was noted for being the first TV series for Victoria Wood, Ben Elton, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Robbie Coltrane, Emma Thompson and Lenny Henry. I remember the sketch.

Ive had sex with a pole
Do you mean with a pole or by a pole?
                              With a pole in Warsaw

Ive has sex with a swede
Do you mean with a swede or by a swede?
By a swede with a greengrocer

And unless Im thrown out for that, well save the Swedish chemists sketch for another time.
