    Italian Robots

    Hi chris,

    no problem.

Italian Robots arent very competitive. We know this and its right to suffer for this.
(maybe its help us to cover the gap quickly )

Were working harder to improve them and to bring this hobby to the mass.

We just make a no-profit club but we need your help.

I think our problem are common to all newbie and maybe someone have the answers.

1- Which class are better for the first robot?
    2- Where compete ?
3- There are tournament in southern europe ?
4- How a club can help the roboteers ?

Maybe this is not the right place for this discussion. If so maybe I will start a new post.

    Thanks,
    ArtooDeToo71

        Italian Robots

        Hello.
Im a student at the university of Lund in Sweden and my exam-work is by making it possibel to remote-controle anything over internet with cameras, like camere-paintball-war-robots over the internet with delays around 0.3 sek.
        I MADE IT !!!!!!!
It can be controlled from the other side of the earth.
I have build a camere-paintball-war-robot with WLAN and you can try to controll it by logging in on this site

        magi77

If you want to drive around with it please e-mail me.
I have to be there when I let it loose.

We are planing on a arena with some battle-robots and we want to know what you want of it.

Please answer some questions so I can designe robots and arena after your requests.

Please send these questions to friends and forums who you believe are interested.

If anyone would be interested in how its done please e-mail me and I can help you with it.
I have developed it to be cheape and simple but effektive.
        If a gamer have a 1 GHz computer and 1 Mbit/s internet the system can transmitt 704 x 576 resolution with 30 images/s.
Its ok by me. The delay over 140 Miles (1400 000 m) is about 0.3 sek.
If there is a satelite the delay increase aboute 0.5 sek so I realy would like to have a arena in USA. If anyone over there is interested please let me know.

Please send this to a friend becourse a financier is interested in helping me but he need aboute 1000 answers in the surveyer so he can deside if he is interested.

          Italian Robots

          Ciao Fabio!

Where do you com from in Italy? There are a few teams (tsunami, reaper..) in the south german (bavarian) area and team crashlab and me in austria. Maybe we can organise a event in northern italy or so? (sounds nice, especially in winter time ) The amount of decent restaurants will also be a reason....

          tanti saluti
          Helmut

            Italian Robots

            Hi Fabio,

Given the fact that most european countries are not big on building robots, the most chance you have on fighting battles outside the UK are Germany, Holland, and Belgium. It may take a while to get there, but i assure you, once youve been to live events, the quality of your robots will improve with leaps and bounds.

Just look how well the German and Dutch roboteers do at live events now, that all comes down to experience and learning as we compete.

                          Italian Robots

Nice motorbike, but I like the robot better.

I think the main problem is either you build your own arena or visit a live event. The first is expensive in materials needed and you have to work hard and the second is expensive in travel costs but more fun.
Consult with Helmut from Austria, together with the German and Austrian robots you might have a nice core, a group of dedicated roboteers who can organize a live event or at least a get-together for a few fights.

But I urge you to visit a British live event first, like Roaming Robots, so that you can see how it is done. See the live events thread on this forum, I am certain you will find an event to your liking and you will be welcome there. If I am correct Roaming Robots has a mobile arena that you can rent. At least they can give you the explanation on how to organize a live event in a way that guarantees safety to both roboteers and audience.

Italy is far away from us (Im Belgian). But who knows ? We might consider it for a holiday destination...

                            Italian Robots

                            Hi all,
Im glad to see messages from my friends Francesco Screming. Frollino is a very nice robots and Im sure it can fighter well.

We live near Milan so Germany and Austria isnt so far.

Helmut, I hope to see you at the next live event (tell me when its happen)

Somerfield, where I can find more information about Engenuity 2004 ?

                            Elisabeth,
Visit Roaming Robots is one of our goal. We know the existence of the mobile arena but it is too expensive for an event with few Italians robots.
Maybe it is fine for an International event with Austrian and German roboteer.

If the things goes well, and with your partecipation, we can organize the first Italian event at the end of 2004.

Maybe there arent value prize but surely there are good food for everyone. I promise (my wife says I cook better than I build robots)

                            Thanks you all,
                            Fabio Drago

Italy, why not. If it is the North, with pleasure even. The amount of fuel needed can be bought with the money not needed for the ferry.

So Yes, Babeth and Mario will try to get there(other things than money are important, like work and such)
