  • Heavy Weight Motors Required

I'm looking for at least 2 motors to be used in our heavyweight robot Chimera.

Ideally they will be BOSCH 750w motors but will consider alternatives, given that these are hard to find, as long as they give the same level of performance.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Thanks.

Hi Jordan, is it your own build or is it the chassis you bought, if its the later I can help with advice -whats the chassis shape like?

Hi Colin, it's a brand new chassis that we made after we purchased Chimera last year. We gave it a new steel chassis but kept some of the original Chimera body work around the outside so it retained some of the original. It's now powered by 2 wheelchair motors and we are on with building a new more armoured Chimera due this summer. Thank you for the offer of help it is much appreciated.

Glad to know Chimera survived in some form, even if there are but a few body panels left.
I built it around 12 years ago and it was originally called The Wall ! .
Yes it looked bizzare and you had to look hard to find its best side, underpowered and with a inafective weapon.
If I had modify it, I would have lost the tyres-kept the wheels and put tread on direct, lost the battery box and used nicads
retuned it to gas as original and fitted a flipper-that's history - bite marks from kan opener/Thor/exterminator/storm ect-Good luck with your build-oh any pics?-Colin

We were keen to keep as much as possible and we still have all the parts from the version we purchased just in case they are needed in the future. We will be bringing Chimera to the regional heavy weight events in Manchester etc. so feel free to come
and see us if you attend these. Here's a pic of Chimera as it looks now. Thanks.

Looking better allready -if you fit the best motors and speed controller you can afford it should go well-to be honest the tyres were only really punctured by Kan opener and because I had friction drive against the tyres- deflation was a double blow-guess your using chain drive now-remember its a wood floor so make provision to get your spike out if it digs in.you should be fine against flippers and even thor only dented the bodywork I'm tempted to come watch for sure.

Recommend you put a spring around the spike so it can bounce back out again and also you could fill the tyres with
pipe lagging (foam type) it weighs nothing and can keep your tyres up if punctured.
