    Re: Wanted Help With Robot

Also, Alex mentioned (but it is important as you cant buy them in shops) that you need to keep the reverse threat screw and replace it once the motor is free from the rest of the drill parts. The one I am talking about is, in the link I sent you, the screw being removed while the drill motor is in a vice.

I got them from here :

      http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/m5-x-5mm-stainles ... _923wt_698
Can't believe I've never looked on eBay for those type of grub screws
I've always bought them from CPC and paid roughly £6 for handling and packaging, meaning that an order for a £1.50 product usually cost almost £8. Thanks for linking them Tony

Not a problem Jamie, I went to that link you sent me and after adding p+p and other associated costs they were looking for 8.95!

So quick search on ebay came up with that, was just about to send you the link to it as I remembered reading that you were stuck for better places to find them.

            Re: Wanted Help With Robot

cant see how much those cost as the listing ended but where i got mine from sold 5 for 75p m5 5mm length

you do have to buy a minimum of £3 worth of stuff total but when building a robot bolts and screws etc would easily pass that

              Re: Wanted Help With Robot

Alex, I got many a part for my robots on eBay but never once considered it to be a good source for fixings. Now I know though
Just been eyeing up some larger diameter 10.9 grade bolts to replace the scrawny 5mm ones holding Drumroll's teeth on.

Tony, cheers mate. Considering all the companies that charge packaging and handling, you've probably just saved me a small fortune!

                Re: Wanted Help With Robot

Your right on that one, some of the handling fees companies charge are just stupid. A con really that they can advertise those prices then bump them up when they realise that someone will have to put it in the post for you.

I'm definitely keeping that guys ebay shop in my favourites!

                    Re: Wanted Help With Robot

You may want to put something on the sides to stop it getting stuck on its side if its flipped. Looking good though, nice and simple.

Even just a small line of plastic so its not a flat surface.

Not a problem, may even want to angle them slightly to make the odds of which way you land slightly in favour of landing with the ramps the right way. Not sure if that will make a difference or not, but may as well.

Thats a tiny detail though, something you don't really need to worry about until after the rest of it is built
