  • Second hand feather parts

    Hi guys,

I have been building ants for many years and am looking at a featherweight (again). I am looking to see what second hand parts people have that they might be willing to sell. I was looking at a low pressure co2 flipper but that depends on what i can get. Anything really from bolts, drive gears etc.

I am going to be at whitwick so can pick up parts/discuss

I have picked up a chassis and some old nimh batteries, does anyone have or know a source of the thin plastic heat wrap used for batteries?

        Re: Second hand feather parts

Has anyone ordered the heat shrink from technobots before? They quote the diameter, however if this is flat width the heat shrink will be much smaller. Can anyone confirm?

          Re: Second hand feather parts

you will want some stuff that has a slightly smaller shrunken diameter compared to the width of your battery pack

i might have a few spare bits what things do you need atm ???

          hope it helps alex

            Re: Second hand feather parts

Thanks for the response alex, but I found a decent selection on cellpacksolutions.com, I got some 169mm, 67mm and 42mm flat width heat wrap 0.15mm thick

What i am still looking for, second hand preferably:

1)connectors for the battery, removeable link, charge port etc.
2)A Nimh charger that can do 10 cell packs 12V
3)4 (and maybe a few spare) M5 counter sunk headed bolts 15mm in length for the chassis.
4)I am using the UK robotics drill mod, if anyone has any better wheels or wider wheels ~80mm diameter up to 35mm wide
            5)A spektrum dsm2 RX
6)The battery bars for connecting cells in home made packs

Also does anyone know the size of the holes are and spacing on the XXL speed controller?

I am looking at trying to get a simple wedge running at Barnsley Event if the XXL speed controller arrives in time.

              Re: Second hand feather parts

A number of the parts you're after are so cheap there isn't much point trying to get them second hand.

              - suitable battery connectors, you won't go far wrong with the deans type

              http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-Pairs-T-Plug-Co ... 4aa78d9d17

              - countersunk screws in small quantities

              http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... ountersunk

              - wheels and mounts, robochallenge blue wheels everytime

              http://web.me.com/robochallenge/Robo_Ch ... nical.html

              - Battery bars, ebay again (although I have just used short lengths of wire in the past)

              http://toys.shop.ebay.co.uk/Toys-Games- ... 86.c0.m282

I'm sure you will be able to find a dirt cheap charger on there as well.

                  5)A spektrum dsm2 RX
If you want low-cost stuff, Pete W linked to a couple of Spektrum compatible receivers on the RW101 board. Cheap and cheerful if you're not too fussed about brand names:

                    Re: Second hand feather parts

After looking at the co2 feathers at whitick this evening I am very tempted to build one. Not sure to go FP or LP, so putting a feeler out for second hand tanks, valves regs rams etc. If you have a part that is sitting arround that you are willing to sell PM me.

                    Thanks

                      Re: Second hand feather parts

After some minor success with Gianticide I have started buying the parts for a fp system. What I am looking for is a solenoid valve, a burkert or smaller would be good. I know the standard burkert is what most people use, but are there any other alternatives out there and where is the cheapest place to buy them?

                      Thanks
