  • Pneumatic stuff

Does anyone have any unwanted LP pneumatics parts which I could buy. Im looking for a solenoid valve and a 10 bar pressure relief valve. Im planning a compressor system for one half of a featherweight cluster.

yep, ive got 5/2 10bar valves, buffer tanks, rams- what size ram you after? Ive also got a pressure switch,- which you will need to turn of the compressor when your robot reaches 10bar.. it will turn it back on again when the pressure drops aswell.

Ill be needing a 40mm bore 50mm stroke ram. Thanks for the help. I wasnt planning on a buffer tank for weight reasons, using coil of pipe instead.

Alex you will need to be able to store at least the full volume of the ram in that pipe which means it is going to be quite long. For example if you use 8mm bore (10mm OD which is quite big for a feather) you will need 1.2m of tube.

Maybe I should use a buffer then, but some bots run without them altogether, so isnt a small coil of pipe better than nothing anyway, even if its not the whole volume of the ram?

If your running a compressor system you will need some where to store the compressed air before your valve. What ever you use to store the compressed air in has to be able to store more compressed air than the full volume of the ram.

Okay then. Buffer looks like the way forward.

I dont know how reccomended it is but you could try an aluminium fizzy drinks container. Drill and tap the lid for a pneumatic fitting. People have used them and still do I think little hitter has one in it.

i used a blow torch bottle with the adaptor on the end-

Ive got enough parts to make a cheap compressor fw should you want to buy it as a job lot, aka- compressor, valve, buffer, ram, pressure switch and maybe an 11bar PRV etc..

more like a 2 Liter bottle.
Not seen many robots use them in a while. Seen most people use those cycling ali drinking bottles.
                        Think thats what hitter uses.

Thanks Marco I tried a system like that at school for engineering club. I see now what tom meant
