Merseyside/Chester/North Wales social?

Hi everyone,

Since there seems to a interest in a potential social meet up, I happen to know that my local church hall and attached cafe are available for hire so I could potentially organise something for there. The hall itself is your typical small/mid-sized church but as there are no pews in it, it makes for a relatively good sized space to set up and the cafe itself is pretty good as well.

However, I don't know how much interest there would be in the North Wales/Merseyside/Chester area (it is at the top of the M53) so before I make a enquiry, is anyone willing to come along to something like this with a preferred time? It'll likely be in February/March time. In the meantime, I'll see if I can get some measurements/photos of the space.

Cool, I'll see about booking the cafe for early March time (3rd of March - 1st Saturday) for around 18:00ish time for a couple of hours. I'll update this thread if we are able to go ahead - should know by the end of the week hopefully.

I am North Wales based but ridiculously new to Robotics, Looking to get into Ant Weights at the moment, but have a lot to learn! But id be up for the meet to hopefully learn a bit more!

I've not heard back from the people who run the cafe yet, I'll pop in either today or tomorrow and see what is going on.

So an update - I went to the cafe today to see what was going on and apparently they didn't receive my inquiry so I made the booking there and then. However, perhaps a little unsurprisingly, they needed a bit of clarification as to what I meant by "robotics meet" and there was a serious question about damaging the floor, which I wasn't expecting.

They said they'll phone me on Monday to give me their verdict.

We are going to have the cafe to ourselves, it turns out you can hire that without hiring the main hall. I know of a few other folks who would want to come, just haven't had a chance to ask yet. If you do plan on coming, let me know here so I can get a good guess at the numbers though I doubt it will be an issue.

I'm North shropshire, but working that day. Might be abke to get it off!!! What we doing, can we have fights at this cafe??! Plus what weight classes?!

Any weight class is welcome to come along but as for fights, we'll see The owners had made it clear to me that damaging the floor is a no no (obviously) and the car parking around the cafe isn't tarmacked. If there is a lot of interest, I may build an arena for this but it would be restricted to the AW and possibly BW classes...
