My preference would be the Harvester suggested by Mike, easy to find and just off the the A27 so saves travelling on the minor roads. I did stop off in this Harvester one night after Model World and it was fine, maybe a bit up market for Mike though.
The Harvester does sound easier to find at the end of a long-ish drive, but Im not so unused to trundling around trying to find an obscure pub that I wont cope if need be.
Im happy to bow to local knowledge if (especially on a Saturday) the Saltdean Tavern is likely to be quieter and have enough room (and parking) for all of us - although if the Harvester is sufficiently out of town then maybe it also wouldnt suffer too much. Is Brighton a sufficiently happening place that were likely to struggle in either venue?
Summary: happy with either. I can see the Harvester is easier to find. The ST may have nicer facilities, but given that starting at 7pm in the evening I cant see us doing all that much with a football (being approximately football shaped, its not so much my thing anyway) or the sea. Which would be better for the purposes of gathering and chatting?
Seeing as my knoweledge of brighton is defined by questions such as is that that place by here next to there, is either of the pubs the one on the top of a cliff just outside brighton, within spitting distance of Rodean fortress school?
OK..So it seems to come down to a choice between the Harvester or the Saltdean Tavern. I may just take a drive over to Brighton this evening and check out both. (Up for a pint later Karoline?)
Ill then report back, and hopefully we can arrive at an agreement.
More later,
Geoff.
